Re: Builder asked to upgrade class P to E class slab
Building A New House

I too agree that this is money well spent...provided it is not a cash grab by the builder. Ive yet to argue that the cost of the upgraded slab should be treated the same way as a variation (cost +20%). The builder has simply said that its not a variation, therefore i must pay whatever they say, with...

Ha ha, made a mistake here once, gave the kitchen builder the fridge width and he made the cavity exactly that, needless to say we couldn't put our fridge there. Id say future proof the space and make it much wider that the fridge you currently have/want, as you may one day want to buy one of those ...

Are there any concreters out there that have done an E slab ("P site" needing with 1-2m piers because of a tree) lately. For an average size double story house) see viewtopic.php?p=1810898#p1810898

Agreed, the least they can do is make the slab upgrade details/costs transparent, and maybe, only a small % markup. Tried getting the details of the $15k piles and $15k slab upgrade from builder... doesnt look like they have a policy that allows this. I mentioned that most contracts have % markup fo...

I have evaps in Brisbane and have been using them for 8 years. we also ended up installing splits in every room for the really humid or cold days. over time i have begun to realise that these systems are an advantage for your energy consumption if you learn when you can use them (using a humidity gu...

Hi all,new to this site but it seems to be filled with great information. Kinda hoping I can get some of that :-D. Similar situation up here in Ipswich. charged 15k to upgrade slab (slab upgraded from M to E2) and another 15k for bored piers (1m min depth) (P class site because of trees of influence). Strange thing is that the mining report says that the area is known for H to H2 soils?
