I was out in my garden the other day and was inspecting our lawn (Sir Walter) as it is looking a bit worse for wear after a few months without any rain. I noticed that there are quite a few little red bugs in various spots. I also have a Poinsettia plant nearby which, when I watered it, I noticed a ...

How about another option? We had a similar problem with a large blank wall at the front of our house and decided to go with colourbond. We really like it and it fits in with our setting. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg96/stuart_cross/Frontdoorandfeature.jpg This photo is a bit old now. We have...

I too have been streaming movies/music/photos to my PS3 from my laptop. I was using WMP 11 previously but kept having issues with the PS3 not being able to find it. I then stumbled upon the PS3 Media Server at http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/. Since I have been running this I have had no pro...

Thanks for all the positive replies again, especially you D@n  ! Well it has been a couple of weeks again and it's got to the time in the build where things seem to start to slow down. There is still a lot happening, but it's just all the finishing touches at the moment. Not too much big stuff...

Thanks again for all the positive feedback. We are really excited about the way it is turning out. The only problem we have is that any idea of a budget has been well and truly blown out of the water  . We have basically decided that this is the house we want to live in for the next 10-15 yea...

In the last couple of weeks the builders have just about finished the deck out the back, the plastering has all been done, wooden floors downstairs have been done, cornices and architraves done, and internal doors are on. Here are some more pics of the progress.... Here...

Thanks heaps for all the positive feedback. We were really lucky to find this block of land, and only 10 km's from the City in Chapel Hill. This block was in a private sub division and was 1400sqm in size, however the building area was only 390sqm. Anything outside the building area is protected so ...

We have a Everio HDD recorder. We love it. We have a 6 month old son and use it regularly. We then download the video onto the PC and create DVD's to send back to extended family in the UK. I agree that the process for copy from camera to PC and then creating a DVD is not straight forward and certai...

Well, again I have been slack in updating with some pics. Here I am watching everyone elses houses go up and have been neglecting my own post. A quick update.....the frame has gone up, and roof is now on. Windows are all in as well now and plaster is supposed to be happening this week. We are still ...

Not sure what brand they have got. I don't think I could see any identifying markings on them. I think we are still going to end up getting them. They do look much neater than a standard waste. The main issue is whether or not to get them in the bath's as well. If we find that they are no good, it's...

We are looking at our bathroom fittings for our new house. We have seen and quite like the look of the popup waste fitting for basin's and bath's. The only query I have is how good are they? My in-laws have them in their new house and they don't seem to work that well. We were there on the weekend a...

Thanks Paula. The pool had to be that close to the house due to the building envelope on the land. We have got a big block (1400sqm) but can only build on a relatively small part due to a waterway through the block. It has allowed us to come up with a house that we really love the design of. We went...

I thought it was about time I started a thread about our building progress. Well things have finally started to move after waiting about 10 weeks for council approval. The day after we got the approval the builder was out and scraped the block.. http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg96/stuart_cross/B...

The taps aren't included in the price. We will actually be choosing different tapware to what is pictured. Both basins actually have an overflow outlet. On the cheaper basin it is at the back of the basin under the tap, on the more expensive basin it is located on the front side of the basin. We act...

Hi everyone. We are currently trying to decide about the basin that we want in our bathrooms. We have basically found the style of basin that we like but have found 2 different versions of it, and the prices are quite different. The first basin below is the more expensive basin at about $250 each. T...

Thanks for the inof Rod. I knew I would get a straight forward and useful answer. I guess I will have to start to think about what we really want from this setup. I was really hoping that I would be able to have the single PVR to record etc. and then be able to watch i either location. May still be ...

Hi, I've been a long time lurker on these forums and have found them most informative (if a little addictive). I am starting to look into the AV setup we would like to have in our new house. Essentially we are going to have 3 zones for entertainment. These will be the lounge room, the home theatre (...
