Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely keep the things you've mentioned in mind. I'm aware of the stairs, most builders have said the same thing i.e. stairs are structural, can't change. The design would have ticked all the boxes if it had the kitchen, butlers, laundry on the same side with all conne...

When i was going through tender stage, there were 2 things plantation wouldn't move, the kitchen and the stair case. I did originally try to move the kitchen across to the other side of the house and swap the laundry to the other side as well, but scrapped those plans when I couldn't move the kitche...

One thing that was annoying was the location of the bath tap in the master ensuite. By default plantation placed it on the wall on the far side of the bath, under the window, which is how it is located in the display home at Rochedale. If it is there, you can't turn the tap on or off without steppin...

That's exciting. What stage are you at? We've learnt alot through the process so far and are about 1 month away from handover. There's a few things we would have done differently, or at least have saved some money on post contract variations if we had our time again.

From my recent personal experience, my advice would be: * Make sure you think about cat6 data cabling. I have at least 1 ethernet port going to all bedrooms and 2 in living room, home theatre, study and leisure rooms. People might say you don't need this with wifi today, but lan connections are bett...

That's interesting because i also wanted a Rinnai and was told i couldn't have it. Must depend on who you talk to unless they've changed their policy or suppliers recently.

Hi, I'm also building with plantation and am in production stage. We also went through the same thing as you, trying to use different suppliers for some things. In our case, I really didn't like the choice of hot water system suppliers (dux or chromagen) and wanted to use a different one but wasn't ...

It looks bigger than 600m2 in the pics. The wider street frontage makes a difference. Mine is also 600m2 but 15m street frontage which goes down to 14m because of an easement on one side where the neighbours built their house too close to the boundary back in the 60s. For us the mirage vogue fit per...

House Frame The house frame has gone up incredibly fast...3 days so far. Unfortunately not fast enough to get the roof on before the christmas break, so it's all left open to the elements until next year. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74457_1513391764.jpg https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74457_15133...

Slab After more delays due to rain, the slab was done on the 8th and 9th of December. Our site supervisor was hopeful of having the frame and roof done before the christmas break at this point. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74457_1513391487.jpg https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74457_1513391499.jpg h...

Plumbing After the pool shell was done, it was time for the plumbers to dig trenches and lay pvc pipes before the slab was poured. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74457_1513391218.jpg https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74457_1513391232.jpg https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74457_1513391241.jpg

Pool Shell After weeks of delays because of rain, we got our pool shell dug out and concreted. It rained heavily after we dug the hole, but fortunately the walls didn't collapse before the concrete shell was done. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74457_1513390791.jpg https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74...

Build Starts The build started and the first thing that need to be done was the site cut and fill, followed by pouring the concrete piers. The piers went to a depth of 1m. After this the site was handed back to us to get the pool shell done. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/74457_1513390409.jpg https...
