Consider the water quality on your area. If you intend on having a water filtration system installed down the track (They can be pricey) have the builder run the incoming water mains in a loop down through the garage and back up again before it hits its first outlet. This makes it simpler and cheape...

Is anyone able to advise what the below symbol is supposed to be? It’s not an extractor fan as they are annotated differently on the plan. This one appease on Both the electrical and normal working drawings. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/70116_1594727388.jpeg

We went through this process in Perth, moved into our new home in November. The broker/designer drew the house we wanted (basically our design), we then specified everything, tapware, toilets, bench tops, cabinets, roof tiles, render, everything. That went out to tender to 13 builders. 6 quoted, (si...

Tiger Tails do not protect the cables, nor to they indemnify the builder or trades against damage. They are purely a last line of defence Warning Mechanism only... nothing more.

Your builder is full of crap. Only thing that may change is if they are using poly pipes throughout the house, then they may use copper pipes for tempering valves etc, but they are likely already doing that for the Heat Pump anyway. Sounds like a BS story from builder. You sure he is not referring t...

Depends on how much trouble/cost you want to go to. You could go all out and remove the existing cladding and replace with a Kingspan 50MM XPS panels instead. But then getting into big cost. I think two layers of anticon internally, separated by about 100mm to create a cavity might be enough to keep...

Well, we did end up going ahead with the Multifinish interior plastering over the white set. Cost was approx $1600 extra. 390 sqm home with 31c & 34c ceilings. I think all up there was 750m2 of internal walls plastered. It came out really well, glad we did it. Very smooth, very strong, almost gl...

Given the value you are out of pocket v's the up hill battle you are about to face, IO would say cop it on the chin, chalk it down to a lesson learned and move on with enjoying your home..... I got the builder to give me access to our site after they delivered the beams but before they installed them. I went in, cleaned all the beams and coated them all in a Rust Proof Primer. They look so much better and will never rust. I know they are hidden and will not rust to the point of breaking ...

What are your thoughts on the Gypsum Multifinish Plaster? It is what I am used to seeing from back home. Personally I hat the White Set they use on the walls here. It is way too soft and does not give a nice finish. Do you have any feedback on the British Gypsum Multifinish? We have asked our builde...

Danmar Homes are not really a smaller builder. They are a volume project builder. But you sound like your having a good run so best of luck with it and congratulations on the start.

Dig down around the water meter to a depth of about 700mm below ground level. You will find the supply line will be a 25mm poly pipe, sometimes it feeds two properties. Clamp the poly pipe with a welders clamp (water corp’s use a special long handled clamp but it really doesn’t matter, just need to ...

There is actually a fair bit of work there. And it’s not as straight forward as it sounds. Running strapper wires back and forth to the sockets etc.. Always room for a discount, but be careful of what you get... plenty of cowboys out there who will be cheaper, but still cowboys..
