Apparently it's what most of the houses have now because of the brickwork. Ours plans show it like that too but it's something we didn't notice as the display is in the middle. Hi Cat83 and others, A couple of points on your front entry and the way it has been constructed (I'll get to the brickwork...

This never occurred to me until we did our choices - my DH is tall - 6'6 and I didn't know that in standard height mirrors he can not see his head without having to bend down - so we had both mirrors in both bathrooms made taller than average (I have 3 boys - 2 in teenage years so will affect them ...
We also check shower screen heights also if shower heads have been moved. regards John CR Partners

@digitalnash something i've seen home owners do is hold off payment during stages of build. didn't know that this can actually be done because as far as i know, there is a clause in the contract that says this cannot be done or will be liable to pay for damages, like $250 a week? any ideas on this ...

Hi Mrrrrt, Unfortunately what you are seeing is common among the larger builders. With over 15yrs exp in the industry, we face this issue daily with our clients plans/contracts and as they have done to you, the builder then requests a variation fee to "fix" their own mistakes (and its amaz...

Hi bmitchel, Check the plans and contracts over and over... it is not unusual for builders to change something on the drawings you requested only to find other things have changed or reverted back to previous changes. I have just checked plans for a client with another builder to ensure a TV point w...

Hi All, your comments of "walk away" if you feel you cant get want you want is probably the best option. It is the builder's right to refuse BUT, it is you right to seek another more helpful builder. If you do find a builder willing to accommodate your needs, ensure EVERYTHING is clearly d...

H Shellby, Regardless if it is a HIA or MBA contract, there are some important notes to look for. In the MBA contract, before signing clause 15.4, ensure clauses such as 17a are kept to a minimum. Clause 27 refers to the contracts act 1995 which allows cost escalations resulting from various factors...

Hi Jackula, I don't believe moving a drainage point from an alfresco would either a)cause delays or b) done to meet the building code. I would suggest it has been a) missed during construction or b) removed for convenience. If your alfresco does not have a concrete floor, a drainage point in that ar...

It is the builder's duty to notify you PRIOR to carrying out any works and give you the opportunity to visit and view the site. If this hasn't been done ie they completed the works then asked for the variation, you are well within your right to refuse. They certainly know this and I'm sure they will...
