Thanks everyone for your help. We ended with lexicon quarter walls with vivid white ceiling - was a late night but we are very happy now! standard ceiling paint looks awful against white on white walls. Certainly does! We were thinking of trying this. Would something like Vivid White look good, or would that come out creme as well?

We are getting new floors put in on Thursday, so over the weekend rushed to prep and paint our kitchen and family room. We painted White on White, with a standard ceiling trade paint.
