We are having the same problem with our front door. Actually every door that is supposed to be sealed has some sort of leak. Not good in a new estate with construction around. We are constantly cleaning the house and struggling to keep up.

What you have in that picture is a basic (cheap) IO cover and Frame. The basic thing that is required is a strong easy to remove cover over the inspection shaft. A couple of Options are A. Instead of using the precast frame cast a new frame for the existing cover in the path concrete. B. Cast a Cas...

Hi All, We recently had a concreter come out to assess and quote our concrete footpath/apron around the house. We found that the access point for our sewerage has been placed in such a place that it will be half set into the concrete if we go with a 1 metre apron. What is annoying is that the locati...

Really stuck here. No knowledge of plants at all. Your Developer has requested that you provide a Landscape Plan outlining the style of garden you will have on site. You will need to draw your landscape plan so that the layout of your garden is clear. Your Developer has also requested that you will...

I don't see why $900 has to come out of the property owner's pocket, when it is the developers responsibility, let alone council holding up your building plans. Agreed! I sent them a nice email. Let's see what the response is. What response did you get? I have to pay now. It's really hard when you ...

Quick post from me.. we had handover on Friday and now have the keys to our beautiful house :z: We landscaped with an excavator over the weekend and moved 5 cubic metre of crushed rock in to allow for our move in, and 10 cubic metres of top soil for the back yard. We'll install turf in a few weeks,...
Congratulations! Such exciting times for you Can't wait to see some photos. Unfortunately, we don't have any good news....

Has anyone had PD agree to install a wool/foil ceiling blanket under colorbond roofing, and insulation bats in the exterior walls? We want our build to be as thermally efficient as possible, and have been told that a roof blanket isn't necessary, and that PD can only install wrap and sisal in the w...
Sarking is an additional cost that PD does not include in the base price. We added it on no issue. As for the insulatio...

Joea - very excited to hear all is on track for your PCI and possible hand over this week. Fingers crossed for you. I'll be watching your blog with anticipation! Quick question - is your gas meter in? I'm not expecting HWS until handover, but would have thought our meter would be in - if it isn't i...

I said: Thank you for helping us build such a beautiful house! They looked at me like I had two heads! I spoke to the boss, he said: Because it never happens! Hence the look. Sad, really. I saved our painter from a run in with our neighbour. He then took me through our house (this is weeks back) an...

Looks like cheap asian low iron. Not starphire. In the US, where starphire is made, they have a separate float tank that only ever runs starphire through it, with a strict flow of "ingredients" into it. In the cheaper asian manufacturers, they use the same tank for normal clear as they do...
Trust me... I know it's expensive

They get the site cleaned towards the end of the build. Landscaping and levelling in on the owner to do after hand over unless otherwise agreed. Might want to edit your signature since you are now building with PD. My apologies, I have already built and have been in the home for a couple of months ...

Chris, I agree with all your comments bar one. Preparation and decisions on masonry etc don't really change the quality of workmanship. We did lots of research and believe have made some good decisions along the way but still had our fair share of issues and terrible workmanship. True. Good point t...

We build with Henley back in 2000 needless to say we sold it 11 months later .
