Really disappointed in Rawson at the moment...With these issues and seeing I am still waiting for the gyprock go be fixed 6 months after it was reported to Rawson I have had enough and today I have lodged a complaint with department of fair trading. They can rule on everything that needs to be done...
Ouch Jen - the rats... I'm curious to know (off-topic from the flooring thread, sorry folks...) how the builder can be ...

I saw some people doing raised garden beds with limestone blocks and now i'm confused if I did the right thing by digging out the holes instead of just installing limestone blocks. Maybe you could do a combination - a slightly raised edge to the courtyard garden to distinguish it, but not big enoug...

I noticed in a display home this weekend that the flooring was done after even the skirting! So instead of the skirting sitting on top of the flooring, the floor covering creeps up the skirting, making 67mm look decidedly skinny.

We're building on a smallish block in Sydney, so quite a different situation, but found it would be about 20% more to renovate rather than knockdown/rebuild with a volume builder. And that's 20% on an already quite big number.

Thanks for that, so the lux package is something you can pay extra for? At the display home they gave us the impression this was included as standard but perhaps we misunderstood them? We were given a very helpful 2-page list at the Huntley display (the Ponds) which sets out every non standard item...

Check your documentation thoroughly. Our tender document very clearly says builder has a right to charge for work done to date (re before building starts). We're a bit anxious about the open ended nature of that particular clause... I wonder if anyone has been "bitten"?

I think match the splashback to your benches or overhead cupboards - otherwise you're going to end up with 5 colours, including your floor (which looks like timber? If so, that's an influence in its own right).

I wonder if anyone else has come across this? We are at tender stage and the (project) builder's engineer has furnished the world's briefest report stating that we are in a "severe marine environment" = $7500 extra for window bits, exposure grade bricks etc, plus another similar amount if ...

Our (not proceeding) reno quote had double glazing come in at marginally cheaper ($30k vs $31k) than low-e glass. Surprised me! Adding some more downstairs space at the back in our project home build works out at $1300 per sq metre.

Rawson should consider changing the title of their Customer Service Officers to just "Officers" as my experience so far has been lacking a lot on the "Customer Service" component. Your recommendation seems to have been taken up - they have changed the name to Pre Construction Ad...

Maggie Beer said "only have shelves one container deep". I like the idea of not losing things, but my pantry won't be big enough to do that and fit everything in. My current pantry cupboards are just under 300mm deep = two containers and that's narrow enough to keep under control. I used t...
