We found that they recommend what they like. We don't want the chemical one either. S the is no termite barrier that doesn't need yearly inspection ( as opposed to regular pest inspections?) in that case steel frames are looking good. We are next to bush and love gardens so they are a risk for us.

We are after a termite barrier that doesn't need yearly inspections we have that now and they are a few hundred a year. We currently do not have an alfresco slab and wish to make that when poured the same height as the internal floor due to my sight issues steps are dangerous for me. So how do we do...

MASSIVE learning curve arrghhh. We are up for it - well we have no choice at this point we can't sell the land it as is. I think unless we simply just get something butt about head in order of how something should be done we will be right with everything else. Our gut instincts have been right so fa...

Gee, sounds much like ours...the blind leading the blind! What a mess :( We are now stuck with slab that is too high, has no current engineering, contours or house plans that match what is there...currently under investigation with the local council and NSW Fair Trading so I won't comment further......

Oh dear, I am so sorry to read you have issues too, what is wrong with them??? I agree we pay licensed 'professionals/experts' whatever you want to call them and really they can turn out to be complete duds. With so much regulation in Australia how the heck does this happen? That is exactly what hap...

Is there a list of schedule that someone can point us too for the order of what and when to do things and get inspections if we decide to go OB? We have a slab only and have terminated our building contract due to it not being laid in accordance with council approved plans ( Council issued a Notice ...

I am glad you are asking and educating yourself :) so this probably doesn't apply to you but please people learn from our ongoing very harrowing experience of our builder pouring our slab too high, please understand what height it should be and if at any stage you are not sure it is being constructe...

Does anyone know please? are double glazed windows equivalent to 12.5 BAL compliant windows(for NSW)? We still have to do a price comparison as it is only something we have just thought of. We thought double glazed widows were hugely expensive but were told today they are no longer.

Thank you, yes it is approx what we thought about that. The cost is likely due to the breakdown of the overall payments I guess.

More of a looks thing for us as well as I have sight issues so any less step is a good thing! Pure laziness really, if the customer wants to pay for it there should be no problem! It's only a matter of the slab being stepped down at pour stage. Agree re hobs I really dislike them! Who were the smaller builders that included it?
