@light487 - our estate was like that. Our block was completely cleared (its in the middle of the bush, so would have been a lot of trees)... but the block 2 doors up had about 15 tall skinny trees on it that the owner had to remove. And some houses in the older stages have random tall skinny gum tre...

Perfect timing on the discussion about registered land guys! We were looking to pay a deposit on a block of land that's not registered, and doesn't have civil works done yet either... but I told hubby that there can be lengthy delays... so we are no looking at registered blocks. We are in a rush, an...

If you google "Dividing Fences Act" all your rights, etc are on there. Basically the neighbour has to pay for half the fence if there isn't one there... and they are entitled to quotes. You can contact your local council to get contact details for the owners. Our fence is "Grey Ridge&...

Cheryl - nope. we just said we wanted them there... so that's crap! Ive just looked at our build photos, and the cabling just runs around the half wall from the bedroom there. not really rocket science! Perhaps you can take this photo to them and tell them to put them there.

LauraKG - trims & doors are gloss Illusive White - which is the ceiling colour. in NSW there is no upgrade for different colour trims. I cant imagine having the grey as the doors and trims... I think it would be a bit bland?? But ide also struggle to pay the upgrade! If they have to paint them i...

Sydney-build makes a good point about the eves on the Traditional façade.... we originally got our tender with the traditional façade, and it was $750 to add eves... but our roof is relatively small. so you could be up fro $1000 for eves anyway. Im pretty sure you need eves for BASIX now anyway.

@firsttimer05 - we did our own flooring after handover. But we did use Tile Direct (Clarendon's tiler) for our tiles - they just gave us 20% off which is the mark-up Clarendon charges. These were a new range when we selected them, but I have a friend building with Beechwood (who also use Tile Direct...
