Can I ask why you want vinyl wrap? I've not heard good things. I have vynil wrap and can only say good things. Had it in 2.5yrs with three boystrous kids and it's hard wearing, ready to clean and still looks like the day we put it in. In saying that, I also don't mind some of the new laminates

Hi, I'm having the same stormwater uphill issue with a rental in Qld that I have recently had re-guttered. Its a 1950s build and the downpipes originally went straight to the ground not far from the stumps. That needs fixing! The roof gutters are about 4.5m above the level of the kerb, BUT the land...

Hey all. Looking for some suggestions for what type of lighting you think would look good on my house. I'm going round and round in circles and just can't choose. You can see the light positions either side of the garage and I also have one under the verandah. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201711...

Mate nothing wrong with your grass. It'll struggle of you let it dry out so keep the water up to it till it establishes. It's fine. It goes yellow before it goes green

So I've got a lovely lush Sir Walter buffalo been down since Oct 2016. It grows great but is very spongy. Should I be top dressing with sand to firm it up? Like you 6banga I cut it relatively high prob 60mm because when I cut lower it looks scalped. I feel I need to cut it this high because it is sp...

Why don't you put a 150mm wide decorative gravel strip along the concrete edge and an aggi drain under that. To stop the graver mixing with the garden bed install a strip edge as well. It's way cheaper and looks better.

Hi Crazyk Please use Galv post stirrups to avoid problem further down the track Hi SBG, I will only be using them on the bearers. Engineer design calls for a 150 x 150 post that is 2.7m high. I hate the post stirups for stand alone posts as there is no cross bracing because these are the posts hold...

Hey all, I'm discussing with my chippy regarding how to best set my deck posts in the ground. We have heavy clay loam soil. I dug all the holes to save some money and because I'm still a week or two off form the chippy starting, they filled up with water after the heavy rain we had and are still hol...

That'll be fine. It's just like you walking on the rafters. Effectively you have 5kg on each rafter. Not a problem at all

Hey all. Need some help choosing some trees for down my side driveway. I don't want anything that will have roots that will affect my concrete or trunks that get excessively fat! Ive since painted the fence Basalt grey. I will be keeping them fairly narrow 300mm and trim them to fence height. Option...

3m spacing I would use anything on or above 190x45 treated pine. Side beam 190x45 again Whaling plate 90x45 Sorry I just saw this post. Are you basing this advice on gut feel or the AS span tables and what sort of timber? Treated pine, hardwood etc and grade.

I am also contemplating putting the roof on top of the existing roof set back 2 tiles. Not a real fan of it though If you do that you could use brackets like these to tie in to the trusses: http://www.roofextenda.com.au/re-index.php Not sure if they are any good, but that's something I've thought o...

Thanks yeah I thought about that but not sure the existing gutter would cope with the extra water runoff. From what I've read the tie in strap should also go past the wall stud for strength. Thanks guys I do understand that I'll need a permit. No worries there. Anything above 8m2 from memory. What I'm trying to do is understand what I can use before going to the design stage. I've already been led down the garden path with my builder, trusting in them with their knowledge and expertise,...

You could put some thick plates internally and plug weld them from the outside to give extra strength.

Hi all I'm struggling to interpret the span tables in AS1684 I'd like to know the following 1. What size beam required on the 9.2m side if it only has to span 3m ish. 2. What rafter size to span 3.6m I want to keep them as small as possible as I want to minimise how far below the facia they stick. I...
