Pippa1987, your house looks fantastic! I love this colour scheme and the timber windows. Love it!

Hey everyone, It's good to see so many builds happening now and I'm enjoying seeing all the progress. We've been in our house for about 5 months now and haven't had any problems - until now. Our study started smelling like wet carpet and sure enough when we pulled up the carpet we saw that the floor...

I know this is an old thread but any update info guys? Its one i'm also considering. I would prefer to buy an Australian made product than one made offshore. Hi Beazley77, We had eco+ carpets installed when our house was finished in March and we moved in a few days after installation. Now, five mon...

Yeah I understand the process Genghis of not having appliances installed until after handover for security reasons (and we're glad that's the case), I was more questioning why they only do it Thursdays. Now that's weird. We had our appliances installed on a Tuesday (hence why I didn't quite underst...

Aussie, I'm glad there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. Fingers crossed everything gets sorted so you can pick up the keys next Friday. Boutique install the appliances after handover to reduce the risk of theft - I think this is a process for most builders because apparently the theft of ...

Oh my god Aussie, I am floored. I cannot believe the mistakes Boutique have made with your build. Just one of those things would've stressed me out completely, but to have them pile up like they have - the kitchen bench, the grout, the paint and everything else... it staggers me. It also makes me re...

Aussie, that sucks! I'm so sorry you're going through such a crappy experience. I think we were exceptionally lucky in that we had one site supervisor throughout the whole process and he was actually pretty on top of things (and was very approachable). Mind you, I couldn't tell you if our grout colo...

Do you have to go to their offices to pick up the keys? Yep, afraid so. It's a bit of a hassle when you have a baby and a toddler and you don't live near the city...

Aussie, yes, we filled out a post-build survey. It was mainly about our site supervisor from what I can remember. But there are definitely spaces for "comments" so feel free to go all out. They should still ask you to fill it out even though they know you haven't been happy - if they're se...

Aussie, the heating seems to be a separate problem but the a/c and electricity are connected. We had a power blackout that lasted about 5 seconds on the first night we were in the house and the a/c blinked but then we haven't been able to turn it on ever since. The a/c guy said it might have an in-b...

Yikes, geez Aussie, that's really poor service on their behalf. I'd be really annoyed too if they made that mistake and then didn't let us change it to what we originally chose. Fingers crossed the rest of your build goes smoothly. We're still having teething problems with our electricity (keeps dro...

We had a similar experience to Aussie - our consultant was pretty helpful at our colours selection, but translating that to our addenda was another matter. We ended up having a second consultant and she spent ages trying to fix the mistakes made by the first consultant (mistakes I picked up, mind yo...

I'm with you Shalee. We've added doors for functional reasons - it's impossible getting a 7-month-old to sleep when there's a toddler creating chaos. At least with doors the noise of the chaos is diminished! We also deleted the ducted heating and put in hydronic heating instead. I'm just not a fan o...

Theon, we've had cavity slider doors added - 5 in total (2 WIRs, 2 to the living/dining area and 1 in the WIP). As far as I know they didn't charge us extra for the bulkheads, but they may have included them in the upgrade price. Our doors include architraves.

Quarum, our HIA contract included the plans and our PWC, but not our electrical plan or colour selections. We signed the contract the same day we did our colours. We also had a set of final plans sent after construction actually started which we had to sign off - these included errors that I had pic...

Hi Aussie, thanks for asking. We're settling in pretty well, although we still have old sheets and ripped garbage bags on the windows and dirt (now mud after this rain) outside. The blinds we've ordered should be coming soon though and we'll be making a decision on the landscaping in the next day or...

Aussie - sorry to hear about the dramas you're having. Even though your grievances aren't the end of the world, it's still a pain in the a*se having to experience them, particularly considering the amount of money we're all spending in building these darn houses. I found Boutique's customer service ...

One thing I'm a little disappointed in was, at the PWC signing I was talking about potential for grey water plumbing, wet area drainage and using low E glass. We wanted wet area drainage as well (and would've asked for low E glass if we knew about it back then) but we were given a flat out no as we...

Definitely ask for anything that comes to mind but is sometimes hard for FIRST time home builders. Which house and where are you building? Well, we were first-time home builders and we tried preparing as much as possible before signing anything. But yes, I can understand how the whole process can b...

Wow, so much action on here since I last logged on! Genghis77 your floors are divine! They look absolutely wonderful as does your kitchen.
