IT all depends on weather you would like a pattern through the bench. if it is plain green, a marblo may be a good option as they can match any colour from the Dulux Colour chart and put swirls and grains etc. if you are after a High Quality laminate, you will want a High Pressure Laminate, not low ...

One thing that i always bring up when a customer comes looking for benches and has stone in mind is that although it looks great, if it is damaged, it isn't exactly cheap to fix or replace. With products like Caesarstone/Marblo ect, it can simply be sanded back and re-polished to come up brand new. ...

There are various forms of timber that could be used for your benchtop. We have found commercially that SVL (Solid Veneer Lumber) has been a terrify choice although it is a high spec finish and can be costly. Take a look at a timber kitchen benchtops at http://www.surfacesquared.com.au/kitchens

The answer to your question really needs to start with the price and then secondly the lifespan of the kitchen your looking for. I've read a lot of discussion and responses about the type of board or substrate that you should be looking for. Whilst this is an important aspect (most use MRMDF board) ...
