A quick look at the plans and it all looks good! Only very few minor changes, mostly outside taps location, manhole location etc. Will go in detail over the weekend. One major issue is the front setback, it is 10m! I was expecting 7m, like where the current house is and like our next door neighbour...

Anything that we could do after hand-over, we did not get M to do, as this allowed us to get multiple quotes and find the best supplier. With our shutters, we had 4 quotes and we chose the middle priced one, and we are very happy with it. They even came few weeks after installers, to make sure it's ...

First Gyprock went up on March, keys mid June and we first slept in the house in August. By then we had everything done, including landscaping and driveway.

I'm saddened to say I have to depart from this thread. It has been a fantastic experience and new 'friendships' over 2 years since I joined H1, and the information gained has been invaluable. I hope I was also able to help others from my experience and happy to continue to do so via PM. (Still membe...

My contract says 40 weeks. Its a villina 32 with no render. It's the longest contract I have heard of and I'm on a dead flat block Wow! that is a long one. Normally 34 weeks, from all the Vilina's being built last year. Have you asked M the reasons why so long? Interesting to find out. Ours was San...

Once into construction, things normally move fast. Remember, there are some stages where there is a short wait in-between. But over all, most projects finished on or before contract time. Ours was approximately 3 weeks before end of contract. Though sometimes I felt things could be done in half the ...

does masterton install a foil between the bricks and the insulation so that it does not get wet? I do not believe so, not by default anyway.

Hi Vatche, thanks so much for that info, it does make sense now Now that you mention it, the garage is the most sensible place to have the smartbox, its great to have a central place out of view to run all the cables to as I don't like messy cabling in sight. I will probably get one phone point pla...

Hi guys, I'm new here but have been lurking for the past few months and found this thread to be a great source of info. We (the wife and I) are considering building the Symphony MBTF, as we love the design. It does come with the YES package and we are also getting mansion package. It will be a KDR....

all this rain is forming puddles on my top storey. I know the wood can handle it but should I contact the SS and raise my concerns? Dont want to sound too pedantic http://i61.tinypic.com/xlaz2o.jpg The wood can handle it, but I would get few old towels and dry them up. It may end up creating squeak...

HI all re the electricity usage - we as owners have to pay for the service to the property - but M will pay for the electricity they use in constructing your home. When you get a bill - pay it - send a copy to your construction coordinator and they will raise a credit against your final account. I ...

Does anyone know if the painters use rollers or spray guns when they paint your house?? Rollers are so much better but someone told me they will most likely use spray guns because its quicker but means the paint isnt as thick Ours was brushes for the corners and rollers.

Our bricks just arrived. surely its not going to take anothe...

Anyone have any guidance for me around my sewer riser dilemma? A photo would help to brainstorm about. I guess it should have been noted on the drawings and your options would have been driveway on the other side (mirrored house plan). :|

One other thing, the day that piering is done, do you get notified in advance? We want to attend. That was the only item I did not get to document as I did not know when, and when I drove by later that day (as I drove by everyday  ) it was already done :( I guess you need a neighbour to call y...

Has anyone put in small study (in the living room) at the front of the Villina 32. Considering whether to do this or just leave it as one big formal living/dining area. You might want to add the room at the other end, next to the stairs, otherwise you will block and darken the room with no windows ...
