Having no gutters in northern Australia might also be because of the cyclone risk.

Easements aren't as scary as we think, and depending on the block size might have no impact on the build itself. It might impact any plans for a pool though. We just have a colorbond fence on our property where the easement ******, the house itself has piles along the wall where it encroaches the ea...

I hope nothing. But does the council and corpooration actually conduct their own surveys to ensure everything is positioned correctly?

On our property contract, the site plan with easement details were signed off by the purchaser as a matter of disclosure. Sometimes easements can be relinquished though, but remain on the title registered at the titles office. They are two different processes, so maybe the latter hasn't been updated...

Hi We built a house in 2007 in WA, in January we put it on the market where an offer was made and accepted. Now the buyers are wanting a survey done because they think the house is not positioned in the correct location, particularly in relation to an easement on the property. The council and corpor...

Is this valuation for the construction loan? To my knowledge they value it as a 'completed build' at this stage, so the data you should be looking at would be for comparable houses sold (pretty much turn key) rather than comparable land sales

A valuation conducted by a licensed valuer is worth the paper it is written on. An 'appraisal' by any Joe Bloe, namely real estate agents, are not. As licensed valuers effectively underwrite their valuation, they are conservative by nature. Not only do they take into account the sales statist...

Congratulations, it looks like fun. The first thing I'd do is remove the shutters next to the windows. Are the windows themselvs a 'wood' frame or red (can't quite tell?). If red, I'd go charcoal to match the garage door (see below) I'd probably paint the garage door a charcoal, I think it'll need t...

We have similar sidelights in our investment property but we do have shutters on the windows. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m271/alphabetty_album/IMG_1844-1.jpg We also have a tint on our bifolds where the visibility is hindered by giving a mirrored effect, but you can see out. (Ours is not the...

Thanks everyone, it seems we have to remove a glorious tree if we're going down the brick route, and since we don't want to, it'll be pickets all the way (and within the metre height allowance)

We're wanting to replace our front fence. Are there any hoops you must jump through to build one re council. It won;t be a block fence, more pillars with pickets in between. Any info greatly appreciated. :D

To get a shower to fit, you could combine the wc and make one big bathroom? But I don't know what the lesser of two evils is, a separate wc or having a shower. With the kitchen, you could relocate the oven to the wall where the pantry is. Then pantry could fit in the corner (due to limited space I'd...

We've ordered colorbond tanks like above. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m271/alphabetty_album/vegegarden.jpg I was surprised how reasonably they were priced, particularly when comparing to the time and labor to install raised sleeper beds. They come in lots of sizes to suit various applications.

I live is the shire that did remove the work these guys did. As I drove past on the day it happened , I said to my husband how I thought it was a bit strange to have dozens working on it rather than leaning on shovels. They removed it last week, and replaced it with mulch and a lump of rock or two. ...
