BodaciousEm thanks so much for your information. I am afraid it is too late for me to do anything now, the builder walk away about 6 years ago and left us with these problems, so the cost is all mine unfortunately. I will do the pH test for sure, I would think there is no issue with moisture now, bu...

Hey lathiat, can you please let me know where you got the testing done? There is something seriously wrong with my walls and I would like to work out what it is. I had someone from the Plasterers Association inspect it and someone from the Painters and Decorators inspect. The Plasterers Association ...

I have had a representative from the Plasters Association and one from the Painters and Decorators inspect my walls a few weeks ago. No solution was offered to fix the problem. The inspector from the plaster's association did a visual inspection and said it looked fine, it was a paint issue. The pai...

I my opinion that is going to be a real problem. I have troubles with the job my builder did on my linear drains and had to rip them out and start again. I ended up not terminating on the wall and had a small 100mm offset from the wall to allow a continuous join with the tiles. My reading of Austral...

We have a large 3 phase unit with the in room controllers, happy with the unit but still had a few problems but fixed no problem under warranty, the 3 way valve on the outdoor unit failed, I have a reoccurring problem for past 3 years where the controller set to cool but the sensor in the room say h...

Hi everyone, I'm in WA and I have also had this problem in my house build a few years ago. The builder has been no help and denied anything was wrong as well. I contacted the Painters Registration Board as I thought it was a priming problem but they were extremely unhelpful and almost aggressive in ...

a new twist with my case, the builder has asked if I can clean the house before handover for a $800 discount. This means we will be cleaning up all of their mess! We did say no thanks, you can clean all of the wet areas and we will think about the rest depending on the discount offered!

Wow I am surprised by how much interest this has generated. I have no tradie aversion, my dad was a plumber. We purchased and supplied the toilets, taps and other fittings. Our worry is that the extra traffic into the bathroom will lead to damage to bench tops, tiles, toilet etc from their tool belt...

tjilpi, we are using a different contract to the standard one and I can be on site when ever I like. It is a small builder and the email was directed to the company owner not to the tradies. If the builder doesn't provide a portaloo then what are the tradies to do? I don't have an issue with the tra...

I have spoken with a few people at work who are building and they have been in the same situation. Their advice was: what the builder is doing is wrong but it happens a lot over here (W.A.). In his situation they did have a portaloo but no one used it. He suggested that I "pick my battles"...

Thanks for your replies, I have since spoken with the Building Commission and they advised that they should not be using any of the plumbing until it has been completed and signed off. It has been a bit of a difficult build with me having to fix things they refuse to do, such as I have been at the h...

Hi all, I have been a frequent reader but haven't posted too many times. We are building a new 2 story house in Perth and have had our "challenges" with the builder (i.e. problems ). The house is probably 2 months away from Practical Completion. At Christmas the builder removed the port-a-...

I just received the last of my taps last week, the Grohe Lineare basin mixer without the pop up lever was a special order. All taps look great and no different to the ones here only half the price. I also ordered some Hansgrohe showers anfd they were about 40% cheaper than the best price I got here.

Thanks kineso and Fitzyplumber for the info, much appreciated. At under half price I think I will give it a go. If one fails I can buy a new here and I will still be in front. Cheers

Thanks for the info everyone, I will need to check with the plumber. I have no concerns about the quality as they are Grohe and look identical (same part numbers etc) but the aussie ones have a flow restricter. I am feeling a bit more confident now, as the aussie bidet mixer looks like the european one (3/8" connection etc). I am not too fussed with the warranty, they are under half price so if I have to replace one it will still be cheaper than buying them all from here!

Hi Everyone, We have started buidling our new place in Perth and I am shopping for plumbing fittings. We really like the Grohe Lineare basin mixers but they are a bit out of our budget at $540 each. I have seen them for sale online in Germany for €136 , much cheaper than here. The mixer has a differ...
