I have a number of duragal house posts that have had varying degrees of dirt and small river rocks around them, and as such are showing some rust. In order to deal with this I am thinking of hitting the rust with a steel brush / angle grinder and then treating the remaining rust. I want to do someth...

I currently use Intergrain UltraClear on my merbau posts / rails. I think it’s a great product in terms of exposing the natural pigment in the wood, however I’m a bit frustrated with the durability of the product when exposed to sunlight and rain. I’m tossing up moving to using Intergrain UltraDeck ...

I’ve been using Intergrain UltraClear (water based) on my external merbau posts and railing for ~5 years. I find the product ok – it’s easy to apply, though seems to require a number of coats to provide sufficient protection (along with recoating every 18 months of so) and the merbau pigment in the ...

I have vinyl plank flooring laid over yellow tongue. There is a join in the yellow tongue right near where I stand at the kitchen sink, with the flooring squeaking every time I stand at the sink. I have relatively easy access to the subfloor (stump/beam + joist build), so would like to try and do so...

Thanks for the suggestion, agree that would work. I was hoping for a cheaper idea that avoided the need for any tradesmen to attend if there were any other thoughts?

A heavy object was dropped on the edge of one of my melamine drawers, damaging the plastic edging on the top of the drawer. I've attached a picture that shows the worst of the damage, with some additional dents not shown that aren't quite as deep. Are there any ideas as to how I could repair this da...

I have a laundry tap that is installed on a laminate benchtop. I believe the laundry tap may have moved a little during use over the last few years and, per the photos below, you can see that some of the hole is visible. What are my options for fixing this? It is a standard gooseneck mixer tap. Can...

I tried both a T20 and T15 key, the T20 was much too large and the T15 was just slightly too small. I also tried super-gluing the T15 in the hole, however that is coming undone once pressure is applied. Any other ideas of what I could try to get this grub screw out?

I have a towel rail that has a hex bolt underneath to hold it in place. It appears that the hex bolt is rounded such that an allan key slips rather than tightens / untightens the bolt. I need to undo the bolt. Are there any recommendations on how I could go about doing this? Once I get this done, is...

I have a single loose floor tile in my bathroom and am looking at options to repair this. Unfortunately I have no spare tiles so I don’t want to risk trying to lift the tile up and accidentally cracking it. Based on my understanding, there appears to be three options: 1) DIY repair using Fix-a-Floo...

I have low sheen Dulux Wash and Wear on my walls. If there is a mark on the walls I use either a microfiber cloth or magic eraser to clean it off. I generally don't have any issues getting marks off the walls, however I find if I have to do anything beyond very light rubbing that when light is shini...

I have a ‘wet area’ that combines a shower and bath. This is great for from a daily use perspective, but such a large area means more cleaning. Does anyone have recommendations as to the most efficient way to go about cleaning an area such as this. Possible things I’m thinking of are: Grout / tile ...

I’m currently installing yellow tongue noggins for a garage door based on nog maps from my garage door supplier. I bought a second hand outdoor wooden table and just interested in how people would approach restoring it. I am guessing it is kwilla but am not sure. It previously has had some kind of oil/varnish finish which has worn off about 50% of the surface area. If I wanted to use a different oil (e.g. Inte...

I laid new buffalo turf approximately 2.5 weeks ago (in Brisbane). It's generally all growing, though there are some sections where it is not going as well and the turf has some browning. I'm keeping the water up to it so I'm wondering if it actually might be over watering? It doesn't appear to be l...

That's my reason for trying to understand a bit more about it. Ideally the pipe isn't actually in use anymore and I can rip it up. Agree it's not ideal to plant over it if it is still in use.
