I think stone is the laminate of the noughties. Caesarstone is in McDonalds. Your kitchen looks good, so I'd leave it.

You know damn well, builder was already overcharging with the $5000+ quote. Now, they're at almost double the other quotes? Tell them they have 2 choices: Let your guy do it for cheaper OR they can do it for their $5100 quote. No need to be rude. I'd make a joke of it, because they've been caught re...

Has anyone used something like this? Similar to what's used in galleries? http://shakespearesolutions.com.au/art-hanging-system-slimline/ Just painted internally and not keen to put lots of holes in walls. Have boring project home cornices and standard height ceilings (white ceiling, 1/4 pearl ash w...

Sorry, can't solve the space issue, but also factor in installation costs.....? Is it already set up for a dishwasher, or not? Are you, or landlord, paying for a plumber? Does it need cold water tap + waste pipes etc.? Electrician ? (if no power point there, already).

Vinyl wrap cupboards :( Mine have vinyl spontaneously peeling off, but not near the oven. Oven takes some time to cool, seals worn, but still no problem. Only the door sits out from flush. Kitchen almost 20 years old.

Have you seen/ felt the Modwood? I looked at it also, but after seeing it at a home show, decided against it. I could scratch it with a fingernail! Even the guys spruiking said they wouldn't use it for a deck. Recommended it for fencing/ screens etc. as little maintenance.

Our kitchen needs a new sink, dishwasher, oven and the laminate on some doors is coming off. Whole chunk of laminate has come off pantry door (mdf, I think) and don't think it's fixable. Could use some better storage options inside the corner cabinets. Is 20 yrs old. Any thoughts on fix vs. new kitc...

Thanks. I've just looked thru the photos I took when last tenants moved out. YIKES! Am in serious need of makeover- house first! These are the 'lovely' gyprock planter boxes, mixed flooring, feature wall/color and glass bricks (in background) I was referring to. http://imageshack.us/a/img594/6817/im...

Anyone able to recommend some interior designers in Vincentia/ Jervis Bay area? We have a single storey, standard 1990's house that's looking unloved and dated. Think: Glass bricks as wall feature, inbuilt planter boxes (gyprocked), blue feature walls, vertical blinds. We like the area and outlook, ...

If I wasn't renting, I'd have put a lock on our bounce-out-of-bed-toddler's bedroom door to keep him there when put to bed. Having to hold the door shut was same effect with more effort. Only a temporary measure while they learn that bedtime= bedtime. Just consider the problems with fire etc., You c...

If you're installing for security, then don't forget about what to do in a fire. A workmate recently had her DVD player catch fire without warning, so this isn't something that only happens with heaters etc. Fortunately, everyone was awake and could smother it quickly, but not b4 some damage was don...

Our house on the South Coast NSW has a mould problem. Mould grows on the venetian blinds, on leather lounge, on paper in frames, walls. It's a brick veneer house on brick piers, on a slope. There are some vents visible on the outside. Windows are often open and there is decent airflow in main living...

I edited as I suggested 1:4 bleach+ water, but just read that 80% vinegar is the go. Just read I'm wrong: Apparently, bleach just makes it look better, but does NOT kill mould. Ref: http://www.mould.com.au/mythsaboutmould.htm

We're repainting our 15 year old house and I'm thinking of changing the cornices? It's modern with lots of light, smallish and open-plan. Standard height ceilings+ cornices seem wrong. Anyone changed to square-set or shadowline cornices? Any idea of rough cost? Worth it? The house is 4 bed, rendered...
