Guttering, Fascia, Sarking and Roof Tiles now done. The tiles went up in a massive effort on Saturday. Not all of the capping tiles seemed to be stuck down so I think they may have a tiny bit to finish up this morning. Lots of pictures as always and head over to the blog if you've got some time to k...

We were just working out last night how long we think it will be before they break ground... our guess is June / July! What a wait! No I haven't started my own thread - I guess i probably should... I do love looking at what others have done too, so I guess it's my turn to share! You should ...

Congratulations on your slab. It looks great. Thanks. Seeing all that concrete actually made it a bit more real. Up until that point it felt like we were handing over money left, right and centre with nothing to show for it. Looking very good!!! We are building the Milano too! Our land only settled...

Action ahoy. Friday last week saw the drainage pipes go in and the meter box erected. Also resulted in another new pile of dirt appearing at the front of the block. A few more piles and we'll find ourselves in a valley. Also as mentioned on the blog ( http://build.nlturner.com/2011/plastic-forest ) ...

I've heard similar regarding rain until April. Maybe I could hire a circus tent or something to erect over the block and keep the rain off for a couple of months?

Thanks guys. Will be interesting to see what additional delays the rain brings to proceedings. Have just checked three different weather forecasts. One says possible showers, one says rain and the other says thunderstorms. Given their recent accuracy I'm going to go with Blazing Sunshine!

All looks to be going pretty smoothly for you mate, congrats. Speaking of theft and vandalism, our builder purposely held off putting the bin at the front of our block before Christmas because they knew it would end up full of other people's cardboard boxes and wrapping paper. Funnily enough of of t...

Finally we've had some action just before the Christmas holidays. They cut the site on Friday the 17th of December. http://build.nlturner.com/wp-content/gallery/sitecut/nlt_201012161615582.jpg The site was then handed back to us to complete a small retaining wall. Chose to use the same materials, co...

Sorted out the bank drama. Luckily sanity prevailed in the end and they just increased the amount of the loan without having to go through the entire process once again. We're not having so much luck with the start date. We been continuously told by the builder that we were still waiting on approval...

You were lucky to be forewarned of the variation issue. Out process went: Quote -> prelim contract -> bank pre-approval -> final contract -> Loan approval -> Variations -> Bank :( . There was virtually no difference between the prelim contract and the final one. To me the logical way would be: Preli...

Update: Thanks to Bek for your suggestion. We put it to the builder and they've allowed it! Also, big tip for young players. If your Tile, Colour and Electrical selections are not included in your main contract and that is submitted to the bank one of two things will happen: 1. You will have to pay ...
