Installing a mirror

Say a mirror the size about 90cm x 60cm, when mounting on tiles, is it necessary to find the stubs? There are tons of videos on Youtube demonstrating the drilling process, but none mentions where to drill, is it not important? The other method is to glue the mirror with specialised tape and silicone...

Turns out it's not compatible, it says on the box "not for ECG", I didn't know what that means at the time but later found out it stands for Electronic Control Gear (aka electronic ballast). They are designed for CCG (aka starters), it stands for Magnetic Control Gear (no idea why CCG inst...

Hi fellow home improvers, :) I want to replace the fluro tubes in the garage with LED ones, the new LED one I have got comes with a special starter to replace the conventional starter, I think it's just a bypass. Anyway, issue I am facing is that the lighting unit doesn't have a starter, it has a lo...

Thought it was a 2 minute fix, now sounds like a project for the weekend. :) Meanwhile I have put a bowl underneath to catch the leak. Not sure about the brand, some no name cheapy, it's not even that old. Will take a closer look on Saturday, may be time to upgrade to something better.

Noticed the tap is leaking, traced to the underside of the kitchen sink and it appears that the leak comes from the connector. I tried to tighten it with a wrench but there's not enough clearance. I was wondering is there a special tool for situations like this? Or does it require the removal of the...

Last time I ordered top soil it was from a nursery, the unit is per scoop, 1 scoop = 0.5 m3, it was really easy. To save on delivery charge, I want to order from a local landscape supply, but they talk in tons, and 1 scoop = 1.4 ton?! They must have a really large scoop. Anyway, I was wondering how ...

They lift off  Do you mean the new ones from shop can separate? Or existing ones on the ground are supposed to be able to lift off? If not, how can I fit it when the top is larger? 2

Thanks! Didn't think of it's a finished product readily available off the shelf. Rang up a plumbing supplier and they know straightway what I'm after, apparently it's called finishing collar, available with a crate top or screw trap. About $20 each. Very convenient, but not in my case, because both ...

Leave everything there as it is. All the old root systems will be great organic material that will be broken down by microbes and turned into nutrient for your new lawn. Thanks, sounds great, no hard work to remove them :) But it's going to take longer than a few weeks for the old roots to turned i...

We have dug up some old turf and going to lay new turf in spring, it's only a small area of about 20 squares. The existing soil is pretty crap, mostly red clay type stuff underneath with a layer of dirt on top. While we tried to clean up as much old turf as possible, surely there are still lots of r...

Received phone calls and letter from EnviroPest claiming that they have installed granite barriers at my house (apparently they were contracted by the builder), and they need to come out to do an inspection in order to keep the warranty current. They want to charge $185 for a 30 minutes inspection, ...

Our colourbond fence door has a traditional latch locking mechanism, we can open from the outside by rising the lever, but to lock or unlock is a major hassle because the padlock is inside. I'm thinking to install a rim lock so the door can be locked and unlocked from both side. The Lockwood 001 is ...
