Re: Mould on Colourbond Roof

Peter, Not unusual for fungus on Colorbond roof. I have it on mine and we are about 300m from Port Philip Bay in Vic. I have a Technical Bulletin TB-27 made available by Bluescope Steel which discusses this problem but I note it is dated November 2003 – perhaps they may still have some in print or p...

Re: How to bend a short copper pipe - help me please

I assume you want to bend the pipe because the taps are not in line with the outlet. A rough way would be to partially notch out the pipe on each side and then bend back in to cover the notch and then solder at the bend. Shouldn't restrict flow too much.

Is the hot water l/m flow different to the cold water flow l/m out of the shower? Could be that one of the pipes has a kink or is compressed (plastic piping) but this would be unusual. Can you find any technical specs on your shower tap system - could be the restriction is in there. I have a Methven...

Thanks bashworth, In this situation the waste pipe is in the wall cavity. Man at the plumbing shop has just suggested making a permanent trap out of 4 90 degree bends and then extending the pipe to w/m height and attaching the w/m hose into this. So nothing specific available - something needs to be...

Usual practice is to connect the discharge hose from the washing machine onto the inlet on the trap under the sink/bowl, however come across a situation where there is no associated sink or bowl to which a trap is connected - there is only a 50mm waste pipe ie it is a stand alone washing machine. Sh...

Not saying this will be the solution but the simplest way will be to have a fall of only one direction from front to back, and perhaps instead of having a single hole type outlet in the corner you could have a drain type outlet right across the back of the shower at the end of the fall. The existing...

Thanks octain, I have been thinking of one of those inspection cameras at the end of a long extendable cable to have a look at the ducting - not sure what I might find. My problem is that the floor level is very close to ground level and also no under floor access any way. If I did see some gashes i...

I suggest a good Handyman should be able to fix this. I will presume the glass panel is siliconed to both the rear wall and to the top of the bath hob plus there appears to be a mounting bracket at the top corner of the glass also attaching to the tiled wall. The silicone can be cut away and the mou...

You can have either push to open (P2O) or Soft close - not both - unless you go for an electric solution. It is the physics. The energy to cause the soft close is stored when you pull the drawer open. The energy to push open is stored when you push the drawer closed. We have Blum P2O - excellent pro...

I would be cancelling the phone service through your builder. And then as soon as you get handover apply for the phone through normal Telstra channels and when the contractor comes to install advise of your existing pipe system. He will be delighted. barkly

Ask them the outside diameter of the lead in cable they intend to use. I suspect it should be no greater than that of some twin power flex cable and will easily go into a 20 mm internal diameter pipe. I think you are being "had" - they want to charge you for ditching the trench which IMO i...

Another 'good' location for an access point to your internal vac system is in the kick rail in your kitchen. I have seen a special opening for this position - can't recall the vac brand but the benefit is when doing a floor sweep - sweep it all up to this point, open the vac point, and its all gone....

Hi JMAP, Also no expert but from what I have been advised and done myself. No more than two tight 90 degree bends on a pipe run. But with sweeping 90 degree bends apparently no limit. Note that there will most likely be a 90 degree bend behind your wall or floor access point so you need to include t...

Thanks for your responses - appreciated. Yes I will be checking with my accountant - it is just that I like to get a 'feel' for this sort of thing first so I know what sort of questions to ask.
