So Yeah been a while... The after glow has worn off, and the stress has long subsided and we are absolutely loving the place! We've been in 6 months now. We used a local furniture removal guy to move as well. First time ever and I highly recommend it!!! Really don't have any things that I would of d...

Hey mate, We used one at every stage. Was just over 2k. We used a large volume builder, built relatively cheaply. As such their trades can be questionable, partly due to the fact the company pays them very little. We used an independent inspector who is well respected, the tradies new him. After the...

Heading into winter, thought I'd rekindle this one. Any one got any more input? I'm still thinking of the following, Regency, Kingston Pacific Energy, The Neo 2.5 Osburn, Matrix All high efficiency and long burn times.

Yep agree that's a great idea, and better than firing up the aircon just to use the fan. I installed an air transfer kit at our last place to transfer hot air from the wood heater, heated living area to the back of the house. It worked a treat. I think I'll look for a large inline fan and run it ind...

I'd be keen to hear feed back on this also. We've just finished a build with a good amount of insulation added for winter. We have a lot of glass to the North for winter. Now that the sun is getting lower the living area is warming up. The house has been designed to allow good cross flow from window...

Hey TC, cheers. I ended up getting the guys that put the septic in to do the storm water. They gave me a great price and excellent job. Southern drainage if anyone needs drains or sewer down South. It would of taken me a week to do it I reckon and wouldn't of been as good. They used a little excavat...

Hey Guys, Again sorry been a while… We didn’t get in before Christmas, but that was O.K as we weren’t ready. We’ve had the first inspection, and the final is scheduled for the 22nd Jan, oh I think that might be next week!! There’s really only a few little things to fix up, The main ones are: Front d...

I've seen the gov has put out a publication regarding "unfair terms in flooring and window contracts. It does seem that those companies asking for up front payment do seem to fall into the "unfair" category. I rang the 5 big companies in Adelaide and 3 wanted payment up front or no de...

Hey all, We are putting carpet and vinyl planks in our new house. We’ve got a really good quote from a large chain in Adelaide. I’ve just found out they want full payment 24hrs before the install. Is this normal practice?? I’d think you’d be mad to pay in full as there’s no come back if the install ...

If it's the same as what we call pig face ( 20c to 50 cent size leaves with bright pink and red flowers). Be careful where you plant it as it takes over. It grew up and amongst our grevilleas and smothered them and was a pain to keep on top of, round up weed killer would only slow it down. I wouldn'...

Hello again, Well the builder seems to be still ploughing on and keen to off load our house before Christmas. The painters have probably finished today, the shower screens were measured last week and are to go in soon, window screens on and there's a meter in the power box. Sparky still to connect t...

Hey bg100, Ours is only 600 - 800 mm high x 20 mts It is at the front of the house, on 10 acres so we have heaps of space. So I'm going to taper it back over 2 meters or so. The rocks won't be on top of each other more set into the ground a bit and will have a few small water wise plants amongst it....

Make sure you check out previous jobs. Exposed aggregate is somewhat of an art and it can easily go wrong if they've not much experience.

Hey mate I'm up for the same thing. I have a mate who is a landscaper and does this kind of thing. Block / brick walls most expensive, followed by concrete sleepers @$350 a mt2, then timber sleepers then rock boulders. I will use rocks at the front as I think they look far better than the others, co...

Hey all, Sorry up dates have been few and far between… Things have generally been moving along nicely. It has been pretty quiet on site over the last week or so. But has been nice to get down there for a bit of piece and a break from suburbia, without the tradies there. We are living one street back...

Hi fede, I'm in Adelaide, Just goggled Lilydale toppings, looks like what we call dolomite to me. Sometimes called crusher dust. Fitzgerald quarries in Yankalilla do a nice tan toned one and would deliver if you need a lot 10 ton say. http://fitzgeraldquarries.com.au/index.php/products/4-screenings-...
