The roof frame has now gone up and its looking good!! Last night we had a friend (builder) come and do some measuring/levelling and inspecting of the house, and he picked some stuff up that we need to mention to the builders. Like the main beam running across the roof (6.3meter steel beam) is only ...

Congratulations, you are on your way. Instead of looking at pics and plans, you are looking at concrete now. Now you know what the foot print of your home looks like. I would love to have a look at your place. As for me, I just completed my prestart a couple of days ago. I think my slab will only go...

If you remove the bulkhead then the roof plan changes as drawn below. It's a small thing, but from my experience raked bulkheads in particular never look neat, and I think a nice front entry is important. Thanks for the explanation, Amilelka. What does a raking bulkhead look like anyway and how doe...

If you are raising your ceilings to 31 courses, then I would put a coffered ceiling in the entry (like a square bulkhead, but around all four walls) I spoke to my builder regarding removing the raking bulkhead. He said that they can't remove it. Something to do with the wall not having eaves. What'...

As with the above house, I would ask them to remove the bulkhead from the entry. Also to center the doors to the theatre. In addition to this, other things to consider are: 1) Extending the benchtops in the kitchen a little, and adding a breakfast-bar overhang 2) Adding doors to the linen in the la...

I have just signed up to build the Custom 5000 so it will be a while before my pre-start and contract. Would appreciate any advise or things to watch out for. This is my sketch layout for comments. http://i894.photobucket.com/albums/ac144/edzo7/plan07sm.jpg

Alisgirl, how long did it take for your contracts to be ready from the time you signed up? I'm still in the price negotiation stage, but should be signing up for modified Concept 180. By the time I sign up it will be a Concept 190...
