Hi nessbrown, $79 sqm is a fantastic price for Art Select range but the additional $58 to get to $137 sqm laid is ridiculous (did that include slab prep?). Makes me think the product price is to get people in the door then they make it up on the laid rate? Have you considered just buying the vinyl t...

Hi cmt, What do you think of this one? I saw it on a store showroom floor and liked it very much but unfortunately the colour didn't suit my house. http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/9194/house007.jpg I wouldn't mind getting your opinion (and other people's) for the one I am considering atm (see pic...

cmt, absolutely agree you have to like it 100%. One of the salesmen I spoke with offered the Van Gogh Antique Karri at a very cheap price of $65 sqm because he said they had tons of it since they did all of the Brisbane "Wow Sight and Sound" stores with it. Perhaps they also use it at the ...

You've done well "crazyeyes"! I on the other hand am back at the beginning. :( Sorry to hear that cmt. I also looked at the Art Select range you mentioned, but I didn't like the surface texture. The salesman called it the "scraped" look - but to me it almost looked like the surf...

I was in 3 flooring stores today and all of them steered me away from Karndean. Most are saying the other products are just as good, and cheaper. I got exactly the same story, and I think there is some issue between Karndean and the retailers. But I wouldn't let it put you off getting Karndean if t...

Hi, I finally made a decision and I'm getting the Armstrong "Rustic Oak" vinyl plank and an extra heavy duty SDN carpet (colour is "Cocoa") with a dense cut pile. Here is a pic of the vinyl and carpet with the other colours I have. http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/6629/house015.j...

cmt, no they don't have a bevel edge. I linked some pics of them recently here. Surprising that you can't find them anywhere. Not really sure about the temperatures - I haven't needed to consider that as I'm in Brisbane. good luck!

Thanks neorayez - expected your answer to be as it was, but thought I may as well ask. I'm not much of a risk taker so prefer to pay an extra $1K - $2K for a good job and peace of mind. The Renoir is dear but as you and Michelle suggest it is worth spending $$$ on the floor. With regards to the slab...

Hi again, Neorayez, would it be a good idea to deal direct with an installer only and pay cash? That is getting installer to supply and install the vinyl, since the store adds their margin to everything: the vinyl, the surface prep and the installation. Worried though about the risk of getting a dud...

cmt, those prices include installation but they do not include the surface prep as neorayez mentioned. neorayez, thanks very much for your advice. Similar to Michelle most sales people have been up front about the additional cost of surface preparation and said they would get their installer to insp...

I called about a dozen different stores today. I always thought franchises had the same products and prices throughout their stores or at least extremely close. Turns out that they can have totally different product ranges available and/or big price differences for the same brand. Anyway average pri...

Hi championboxer, $80 sqm for Van Gogh is a lot cheaper than what I was told here. At Carpet Call North Brisbane they said $120 sqm for that one. Could you advise what store(s) had it for $80 and was it fully laid or just for the tiles? I think I'll have to pull out the phone book and ring around mo...

Hi cmt. When I spoke to the salesman I asked which vinyl was the best value for money and he said the Rhino was and that he used it in his own house. I asked him about karndean and he just said he no longer sells karndean, so I asked why and he simply repeated that he no longer sells karndean. Not e...

Hi cmt. I have definitely made up my mind to go with vinyl rather than laminate. I like the look of laminate but I hate the beading and expansion joints etc. I especially don't like beading around kitchen benches or how the beading just stops at door ways. Also the stories about moisture damage have...

Hi everyone, I'm new here and this is my first post. Firstly I'd just like to say what a great forum this is, I've had a lot of late nights reading as much as possible this past week. So, I am trying to decide on what vinyl planks to buy for my new house. I visited Andersens & Carpet Call yester...
