Would I be right in assuming then that the reason people vacate after varnishing the floor is the odour and not the fact that the finish takes days to harden? Hope you dont mind if I also just throw one ...

Hi. How long will I have to be out of the house while we sand and coat the new floorboards we have layed? I've been quoted $27per m2 for just the laying of the boards. Is this a reasonable rate for someone that is highly recomended? Thanks.
