This is exactly why renting a home is so very very cheap still. It exposes the renter to no risk, and is pretty good way to live. you can expect the number of homes being built to reduce at least in sydney metro and push the demand for homes higher. As far as the $6000 incentive for building new ho...

oh my god, that's so scary! hope nobody from here is building with them. It might not be just them. In the current economic climate of rising costs of materials+skilled labour and new home starts falling, there may be more builders which go to the wall. How do we know who else is having trouble. It...

I recently paid a 40% deposit on a sofa at Dare Gallery. Within a couple of days I had heard that they had gone into administration and there was a possibly I would lose my $1500. This created a little bit of anxiety in my house. Now imagine if , instead of a sofa, it was your new build which were a...

OK…….I can tell you now……..they CAN lay on those stairs!!!! It takes a little extra carpet to do, but it can be done!!!! So is the carpet already over locked and waiting at the store? Did the layer come with the stair carpet the day he laid the rest of your house! Something has happened…… :? I have...

Here are the problematic stairs. As you can see from the first photo, the 5th and 6 stairs down have 'kinks' in them. http://i29.tinypic.com/2eojy39.jpg http://i25.tinypic.com/2zfqxhs.jpg

S'pose its a polypropylene 'sisal style' carpet. Not the greatest, but I guess you are selling it, so not your prob. Maybe the layer didn't have the tools or experience to do the stairs. Hard to say. Sounds like he used the carpet type as an excuse to not do it. Although its not a good performing c...

Why can't sisal be laid on stairs? My stairs go in a U bend. The carpet layer said it would be very diificult to get the lines in the carpet joining and looking good. It would look good if the lines in the carpet followed the curves on the stairs but they don't. Maybe he's telling me ****** to get ...

I can fairly say the company will not want to loos your remaining payment! Hope you didn’t use a credit card for your deposit! Their probably trying to get a layer who will lay the carpet for them. Tricky one!!!!! My girlfriend put Sisal on her stairs and wishes she didn’t do it, it hasn’t worn ver...

Happy Australia Day all :D , I was wondering if any of you could help with this problem I have please. I purchased a carpet (+fitting) from a major carpet company. I took my plans in at time of purchase and was sold a sisal. As you may know, sisal carpets have straight lines in them. However our sta...

Thanks guys, the floor does look especially fantastic at night with the lights on. The red really does seem to glow then. As for photo's, as soon as we've got the floor cleaned of dust etc I'll put some photo's up. Cheers.

I've just installed engineered wood floor. Bought 'B' Grade Boral silkwood for $40 sqm. 'B' Grade means every 10th or so plank has a mark on it. I used these for under where the sofas would go ;) My builder left the skirting tacked on for a small charge. Its been a real pain to paint reattach and fi...

Mine were delivered yesterday and by the time the sparky and plumber got on site this morning they were gone! Kudos to the contractor for replacing them straight away (except the ...

Yes they HAVE to show you evidence. But they are also entitled under the HIA contract to charge you 25% builders markup on top of that cost. ie. If the builder was charged $1000 for rock removal they will charge you $1250. Thanks Emi. What do you think the chances are of a large company like H3nely...

Hi all, :D Was just wondering how many of you at the end of your build your rock provision covered the cost and therefore received a credit for the difference? My provision was around $7k (35 cubic metres), but I have seen the rock removed and have photographed the rock removed and it looks only 4 c...

One volume builder in ACT give allowance of $40/linear meter. have you checked Bunnings? ozn Thanks..it looks as though i can't get a fence built until Feb, due to too much demand. I've decided to build a paling fence myself., and save $2k. It doesn't look too difficult.
