Cladding on "The Block"
General Discussion

Hi all, Does anyone know what the external black cladding system is on "The Block"? I'm assuming it would be a metallic system rather than timber as maintenance would be impossible on it if it was timber, but i really like the way they've split it up into the horizontal and vertical blocks...

What type of tradies are you looking for specifically? :) Hmm, where do i start!? The project is at 0% at the moment, so we need an excavator, concreter and brickie to get the work started. In theory, it's a fairly easy piece of work as the excavation is only scraping the site to get it level and d...

Has anyone got any more recommendations? We're having trouble finding tradies that come back to us with quotes, they certainly seem happy enough to come out on site but 3 weeks later still no quotes... I'm feeling a bit rejected! Located in NE Melbourne near Eltham if location is a problem

Well the plans are with council now so hopefully it's only another 10 days or so before our permit is approved and we can start work. We've had builders and other bits and pieces come out to quote based on our plans, but i've just got a few questions regarding materials that i'm hoping the forum can...

Soil report is back in and is very favourable - Site Classification 'A'. Now it's off to council for the building permit, anyone else done a major renovation/extension in Banyule council in Melb? Can't believe the cost of the building permit, just a touch over $2k.... Ouch!

Hi Tony, Yes, certainly is interesting, we've been tempted more than a few times to just get the whole thing knocked down and rebuild a brand new house... Finally got the finished plans onto a computer, so i'll upload them now so you can have a better look at them. OK, no i won't as the board attach...

Well the first step is done, confirmed with the Building Commission that our Certificate of Consent application has been approved and we should receive it in the next couple of days. Then it's off to the Council later this week for the Building Permit!! Currently getting quotes to do the excavation ...

Hi All, Just about to start an owner/builder project, we're doing a 2 stage extension to our existing house. The first part is building a double-brick garage on a concrete slab with a pool room above the garage and then a deck above the pool room. The existing house is set on a hill so we're using t...

Hi there, My partner and I are looking to purchase a property wihch has the house and two separate external buildings. We would be looking to extend the main house, but instead of demolishing the external buildings, we were wondering if it's possible to use the two external buildings and join them t...
