C-bus does other things.. just most people can't afford them.. there is also Control 4 ... unless you have a lot of money and are lazy, talking to a Sparkie/ comms cabler will be able to get closer to what you actually want to do then using very high systems for mid range homes

+1 with pugs' link. +1 Matt and Projector All that NBN speed will throttle right down with WiFi, more so if several connections. More wired outlets ! Easier now than Retrofit. WIP or WIR look like candidates for Data, but pugs will know way more than me on that count. ::wornout:: t garage ftw...

Pugs, Not positive on "non IP" services. Cat6 carrying Video/Audio ? I do data transfers across the LAN. Haven't progressed to a NAS, yet. My setup seems OK, but that is just my current setup, installed in 2000. I'm sure everybody's "mileage may vary". My biggest data hog (LTO-3...

I stand corrected, but replied because no one else had. Now we have a pro who can clarify what Kempe has asked about. Other posts in this forum have indicated price per point, but I am certainly glad that Pugs, and many others, do it differently. My experience, in the commercial field, every point ...
as a bare minimum sure... but what if you want to run other non IP services over Cat5e/6? lets make it 11:30 I have a l...

All full speed ahead. Cables is likely to charge for each and every point, as electricians do. Every point is an individual cable, and has to be terminated at each end. For example, if 4 cables run to tv room and 4 cables to living room, then you now have 8 cables back at the modem/router. Cost = 8...
ok let's stop this right now.. most Cablers actually charge for parts and labour and it pretty much takes the same time...

Cat5e is rated for GBE... just not for 10GBE so with at least Cat6 you are "future Proofed" enough for that if the runs are under 35m

I plan to take ...

NBNCo will install to a working ethernet point in your house and connect you up. As part of the install, what they wont do is multiple sockets and the room you want may have extra charges to it or may be deemed not possible for them. No they are not.. they are doing an interna Fibre run to the ONT ...

I don't get it- Why are people paying their builders $1000's of dollars to be "NBN Ready" when NBN Co will do the standard installation free anyway? Sounds like a ripoff NBN will install the fibre cable but the cost that people are paying for is data points in the house to use the fibre f...
