Hi all, Trying to workout the minimum stepdown required between slab for my house and the outdoor alfresco area. Garage is 100mm lower than rest of the house and plan was to do the same for alfresco but I've been told that 100mm is the minimum height difference so once lay down outdoor tiles the dif...

I would imagine in your case they could do the finish from the laneway side. But this is something best discussed with your builder. Thanks for the reply strannik, doing OB so I am the builder. So are you saying they can do overhand through the timber wall and then just finish it off from lane way ...

is the lane a regular throughfare? if not, just wing it. Chances are no one will know while your ethere for a day or two. Otherwise yeah, overhand and then they will periodically go to the lane side to roll the joins befor ethe mortar fully sets. Not a huge deal. It’s not and that was the plan.. wh...

Hi all, Glad I came across this thread. I’m in a similar situation but am the one building to the boundary and rather than having a neighbour it is boundary with council owned walkway. The lane is about 1600-1700mm and council have said I would need to leave about 1500mm for access (otherwise have t...

yeh, That's big increase. I was told normally cabling including to some length. Any idea to get this reviewed with someone from supplier ? Hi @Kotex did you have any luck getting this reviewed? Did they give you breakdown or just 1 figure? I've been quoted just under $5.5 with the existing pole 1-2...

Thanks all for replying. Yes it does seem a little expensive but not sure what other choice there is :-? How did you go with your pricing? I just received a quote from united energy, 3phase and even less than 5m from pole at just shy of $5.5k. All I got was an amount and no other information/breakd...

Hi all, when you got your pricings for the electrical pit from the supplier, did they provide any breakdown of costs or just one amount? I received an “offer” from united energy and it is just 1 total amount, no other information. Tried to call and email but no one can help. Presumably there is real...

So you would probably require M class foundation, however, if you decide to go for standard slab type, they will require you to put your footing on dozens of piers which will be going around 1.4-1.5 m deep. Thanks @Alexp79 presumably m class foundation/reinforced slab will be cheaper/easier than pi...

Doesn't any demolition come back as P due to pre-existing structure/footings? First time doing this so I really don’t know, is that the case? Does that mean the other factors/recommendation in the report are used to decide on foundation?

Hi all, Embarking on my first knockdown-rebuild project, 2 double story townhouses. Just received back soil report (site yet to be cleared, test done via 3 bores) and it has classified the site as “P - Problematic’ which had got me somewhat concerned. Anyone with any experience or knowledge on P cla...
