Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 21, 2012 10:35 pm Hi We are building a new house (frame is up, no roof trusses yet) and are trying to work out a few things around the kitchen and bathroom colour schemes. My wife is pretty good with colours and stuff, but I'm pretty hopeless, but as she is having some doubts about what she has chosen I thought id see if anyone has some advice to offer. Our current choice is to do Formica Asphalt bottom cupboards, with smart stone santorini benches, and an off white for the overhead cupboards. I did some mocking up in the Laminex 3d planner with colours as close as i could find, but we are not sure about what colour to put on the splashback. We found a nice polished porcelain tile which is the same colour as the asphalt cupboards, but not sure if some kind of white splashback would look better. With Grey: with white: other colours in the house are cream window frames, whiteish walls, and some kind of light brown timber floor like blackbutt (haven't settled on anything but colour) Our furniture is all shades of brown. haven't decided on reveal/architrave colour yet either any advice/opinions photos would be appreciated. The grey frames the window, and draws your eye to it. I would go for white, but then again I am having an all white kitchen. I think it really depends on what you are looking your want achieve. One thing I have learn t,is to listen to your initial gut reaction and go with that. It is usually right K Re: Opinions needed on kitchen colour schemes... 4Jan 24, 2012 3:06 pm l think they both look good,if it was a short l would suggest white, the bench looks long that it could take the grey,l prefer the grey. Re: Opinions needed on kitchen colour schemes... 6Jun 01, 2012 3:38 pm I prefer the grey, but what about a light grey splashback instead of white, maybe 50% of the colour of your overheads? (or is that not enough of a contrast) Re: Opinions needed on kitchen colour schemes... 7Jun 01, 2012 3:46 pm White looks better on the graphic and is probably a safer option. Have you considered a different accent colour for the splash back? Something to add a bit of interest so it doesn't appear so two-dimensional, like skyblue? Or maybe a different texture glass. Good luck with the project. Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this.
