Hi, got a new build with external timber walls and cladding. Will soon be installing windows. Was wondering what is best to use for external architraves? Want square architraves, about 70x19. Options seem to be pine mouldings(LOSP), Tasmanian oak, hardwood or something like Hardie Axent Trim(fibre cement). I think pine is not a good choice for external, will not last that long? Or will LOSP pin be OK. Merbau would be good, but I think painting it is tricky. I was told fibre cement option like Hardie Axent is difficult working with.
So, I was thinking to use a hardwood. Would Tasmanian Oak be a good long lasting option? I see it is not as dense as other hardwoods like blackbut or merbau. Or will it be similar to pin LOSP mouldings?
