Re: Porter Davis homes 14450Mar 17, 2017 3:26 pm Also thanks for the recommendation for Darbecca, building a 600k home is a big amount of money so knowing they are looking out for us really makes us more comfortable.
Anyone have a recommendation for pool fencing? Our landscaper has recommended someone but good to get a recommendation on here as all have been great so far. Re: Porter Davis homes 14451Mar 17, 2017 3:39 pm sunshine83 Hurrow, no big surprises for us, this forum sure helped us feel prepared! good luck! I've learned so much from this website and this forum in particular, the blogs have been great too. There's just so much stuff that I would never have thought about that I now know to keep an eye out for, or make sure that I have in the contract or just to keep in mind. I'm absolutely sure that I'll have saved a fair amount of money and have a much better house as a result of the help from everyone here! Building a Kew 28 with Porter Davis Re: Porter Davis homes 14453Mar 17, 2017 3:51 pm Kannu Hi, Can anybody advise how long does PD take to handover a house after fix stage is complete. They told me about 6 weeks but I haven't seen any progress for the last 2 weeks so wondering how are they going to meet that 6 week timeline. Hi there,I'm probably the person you least likely want to hear from, but we have been waiting 15 weeks from fix to handover and we are STILL waiting.. We saw a huge drop in work when our last hopeless SS took over at this exact stage, so it heavily relies on your SS and how proactive they are. I wouldn't even say we have had huge major fixes either. I believe the work outstanding, all the way back till December could have been completed within 2 weeks.. its now week 15 and it still feels like its forever away Re: Porter Davis homes 14454Mar 17, 2017 4:32 pm lizbf85 Kannu Hi, Can anybody advise how long does PD take to handover a house after fix stage is complete. My husband called Joanna (I think?) to escalate our issues with our BC & it really helped. That's so annoying/frustrating/other words I won't use that you are still waiting Re: Porter Davis homes 14455Mar 18, 2017 11:30 am sunshine83 Have you escalated it? My husband called Joanna (I think?) to escalate our issues with our BC & it really helped. That's so annoying/frustrating/other words I won't use that you are still waiting Of course we have. I actually didnt realize Joanna was still around. The completion really just has to do with the ss getting it done. They have no urgency probably because they are still within their contract time. That was initially 286 freakin days! We finally heard from our new ss on Thursday and are having our 3rd meeting on Monday to go over everything. The bricks and render have finally been finished so will be interesting to see what time frame the ss predicts on monday for our pci. Re: Porter Davis homes 14456Mar 18, 2017 1:48 pm Oh Liz, I'm sorry of course you've escalated it by now. I'm sorry this is such a stressful experience for you. I hope in a few years the enjoyment you've got out of your gorgeous new home would have dulled the memory of the build! Re: Porter Davis homes 14457Mar 18, 2017 2:00 pm Hopefully this Monday meeting the new SS will bring some sort of action for you. 15 weeks to finish off a house is really unacceptable for a large volume builder. Fingers crossed that things get motoring along for you. Re: Porter Davis homes 14458Mar 18, 2017 5:11 pm sunshine83 Oh Liz, I'm sorry of course you've escalated it by now. Thanks for ur kind words. If definitely been a let down and probably the most frustrating thing in our lives. We hope so too!! All that beautiful new furniture will hopefully soon get its use Edit. Render is now fixed but now darker on the pillars they had to redo than the entire rest of the facade. ughhhh more work.. Re: Porter Davis homes 14460Mar 21, 2017 10:06 am Waldorf_Grange_Build Liz how did your meeting go today? Howdy My husband met with him, i had to be at work. I've had enough of the stress and meetings i was kind of glad to step out. All went ok, he seemed like a good guy, and genuine and told us not to stress... kind of comical given the situation. Bricks are finally done and render fixed but the render looks significantly different to the first first side looks patchy, the side that's been redone looks great, he advised that in 3 months it will look like the same but i'm doubtful, given anything 3 coats always looks better then 2.. i may be wrong! but we really want that fixed too. We have a mirror being reordered as its too small for the bathroom as per plans, so that should arrive soon. We have been told PCI next week and will get an update tomorrow so fingers crossed this is actually it. All going well and i say that with great hope we should be moving by Easter!
