Browse Forums Building A New House Re: JG King modified Heywood 185Aug 18, 2016 1:07 pm We have been told middle of next year, but not with any confidence. Just a mound of dirt at present. Your section looks nice and grassy and you'd have to agree that the houses going up with their higher pitched roof and eaves look collectively pretty good compared to some other estates. We are expecting a very long wait, but are really enjoying seeing the area developing. They have said all along to us that they are preparing the blocks to a high compaction standard, so hopefully there are no shocks with your soil. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 186Aug 18, 2016 1:45 pm Yes I'm enjoying the green while it lasts. It won't be long now and the tradies will be in there turning it back in to mud. Middle of next year does seem unlikely for you but you never know! They seem to be able to work very quickly at times. Are they doing the construction of 2a and b together or separately? Have you been told anything about the construction about the parkland along the river? We were originally told the end of this year after e+f (now feb). But I'll be surprised if they do it before all of stage 1 and 2 are complete. Have you chosen a builder? Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 188Aug 18, 2016 9:16 pm Thats exciting! Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 189Aug 19, 2016 12:13 pm Yes the last couple of weeks have gone quickly! I'll be watching spear like a hawk next week and straight on to them to try and get that fence down. They have said that it will be removed at titles this time but we haven't had any official word so we are a bit sceptical. Builders have indicated that they will send the soil testers in the moment there is access. Blinds update: I have requested a quote from 3228 blinds but their person who does the quotes is away so it might be a few weeks. Nothing from shades yet. Got quote back from Brax, yikes! About 2k more than the first 2 quotes. Biggest shock of all so far has been $639 for a timber venetian for the front door side light! Maybe I'm out of touch but that was a surprise! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 190Aug 22, 2016 2:59 pm It's been a good day so far! Finally got the compaction reports! Based on the summary our results look fine, I'm just trying to find our detailed test results amongst 148 pdfs that don't seem to be in any logical order or named in any helpful way! The fill map shows we got off lightly compared to most and our depth seems to be similar to what we were told the display is on (not entirely sure he didn't just pluck a number from his head though) so that is a massive relief. If we had double the amount (and some lots easily do) I probably would have run for hills, or looked in to selling a kidney or something. Also got the quote back from Shades, it's in line with the first 2 quotes (amazing how close they are) and I know it's based on exactly what I wanted since they had it on display in a fabric I loved. They also included a cheaper option with a standard track rather than the s-fold which was helpful of them, but if I'm going to go to the expense of the sheers I might as well spend the bit extra. Hubby might not see it that way . It all hinges on how bad the site works costs are now. In a dream world i'd love to just do all at once but we might just do blinds first, sheers later, or just use sheets and newspaper for 10 years . oh and their quote for a sidelight venetian was $220, much better!! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 191Aug 22, 2016 3:10 pm Oh yay to some good news!!! fingers crossed for good site costs Do you have a pic of the sheets with the two track styles? Would love an idea of price if you are happy to share? Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 192Aug 23, 2016 11:31 am I didn't think to take a pic so I've just lifted a couple of examples from google. Shades do have a pic of the one in their showroom on facebook but it's not a great pic. S-fold in a linen type fabric Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And just regular pinch pleat Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was sort of figuring out what I wanted as I went along so not all the quotes were quite apples vs apples but basically what I hope to end up with is: Dual rollers for bed 2,3,4 and living (2 small windows). Blockout roller with linen look s-fold sheer for bed 1, dining, and family (2 very big windows). Probably a sheer sunscreen roller in the laundry and a timber venetian or shutter for the sidelight The 3 similiar quotes are about 6.6k. With a fabric allowance of $24-26/m, the one I loved at shades was $24.95/m. All the windows that have the sheer on them are large and longer than standard drop so I was always expecting to have to spend big on them so I was pleasantly surprised. It's still a huge amount of money but building must have desensitised me to big costs lol Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 193Aug 23, 2016 12:16 pm $6.6k for all that, doesn't sound too bad at all!! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 194Aug 23, 2016 10:55 pm That's very similar to what after for the lounge room, family room & master except that room I want block out curtains. I love the S fold with the floor to ceiling & over the walls! Great choices! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 195Aug 24, 2016 2:05 pm Thanks Julia. I'm not getting notifications for my own thread, I keep clicking the watch button but it seems to keep losing it again I've pm'd you some more detail on the curtains that might be of interest to you since you are local Re: JG King modified Heywood - Geelong blinds?? 196Aug 25, 2016 9:28 pm Looks like our block has titled! I've been checking spear all day so I could see it with my own eyes before it disappeared but it hadn't happened by 5 so I gave up. My husband was the one who discovered it was gone tonight. So so close now! I guess we'll get a settlement date tomorrow? Expecting the 8th or the 9th. Next hurdle is getting access! I can't wait to stand on it! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Titled! 198Aug 25, 2016 9:37 pm Woohoo so exciting congratulations its almost yours! Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis Re: JG King modified Heywood - Titled! 200Aug 26, 2016 4:59 pm Lol now it seems like I'm the one missing the news. Congratulations on titles. 2 weeks till settlement and you are about to see all your hard work and money go up before your eyes 😍😍 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 109681 1 10169 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 36595 |
