Browse Forums Building A New House Re: JG King modified Heywood - DA headache 61May 26, 2016 5:04 pm Bugger. I forgot you were in fyansford. Ours was really strange i think - our bank said we had to have fixed site costs - So King's fixed it for us - at least I think they did anyway. Re: JG King modified Heywood - DA headache 62May 26, 2016 5:11 pm Last year when we spoke to the bank we were told the same thing, but this time he was said that would be better but a provisional sum is fine as long as it covers our butts. I have a feeling he is trying to get it wrapped up early because he's going on holiday in August. We've made an appointment with a broker next week to get another opinion. Re: JG King modified Heywood - DA headache 63May 26, 2016 5:35 pm We also saw Peter at floorworld last weekend, it was definitely a worthwhile exercise, I highly recommend it to anyone who goes with kings, however I must have said something wrong at the start so he was fixated on proving to me that the cat 1 carpet we chose was great quality and a good choice. He was reluctant to show us anything else, I felt like he wanted to keep it to a low cat even though I said we don't care what cat. So I left feeling like we barely saw anything, which at the time I was ok with because we clearly weren't getting anywhere and our colour matches the tiles so well it was going to be hard to beat. But when we hit the ballarat displays afterwards and I felt all the nice soft carpets I quickly started to regret not insisting he show us all the options. Anyway I have bigger things to worry about now so I'm just going to stick with it His advice was to change from the sisal to the beachcomber pattern due to our hallway at the back then he can turn it around and get better joins and we won't have to worry about it getting waves down the hall. I have been admiring the beachcomber patterns that seem to be everywhere in displays at the moment but I've always been a sisal lover so I just have to get my head comfortable with the change. I thought I was the last person to worry about things dating, go with what you love is my motto, however I feel like the beachcomber is so popular at the moment that maybe it is a fad? Any thoughts or preferences?? These are both the cyber grey we chose, real colour is probably somewhere in between the two photos. I think the contrast between your floor tile will look fantastic! Peter is great we went twice & on the 2nd time we had a much better idea & choose the cat 3 solace Gray they had on display down there. It's not as soft but it's a high denier? I think it's called which is a lot better quality & harder wearing. We even took a sample to floor world in geelong & they had a look and said it was good quality carpet. We have chosen to upgrade underlay to give it that plush feel because I'm like you & love a soft carpet. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Carpet 66May 27, 2016 10:29 am Yes we upgraded the underlay. He said not to worry about the 5 year warrantee this carpet will last 15 years! It's just not nice to touch . We couldn't be happier with the colour though, it matches the bathroom tiles perfectly and picks up the darker flecks in the main tiles. He also said the beachcomber was a thicker carpet than the sisal and had a higher wear rating, he was pushing it pretty hard, but also kept saying i don't want to push you away from the sisal if that's what you want. We also saw the haven charcoal in the bathrooms of one of kings displays up there and we loved it! It was the 300x600 shine rather than matte so it's a bit lighter than ours but it looked really nice. Its the first time I've seen it laid in real life. I loved the faint veins it has running through it. Realised last night that today is the anniversary of us signing up with kings! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Carpet 69May 27, 2016 10:55 am I'm so over the decision making, even more stressful than the house at the moment is the which high school decision arrh!!! We've found ourselves having to choose between our second preference school in the seal program or the mainstream class in our preferred school. Our daughter is digging her heels in and wants to go to her preferred school, her teachers say she's far better off in the seal program. It's a sh*tty situation. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Carpet 70May 27, 2016 1:49 pm Haha yes i can definitely relate to the high school issue. Our daughter is in year 9 and is saying she doesnt agree with the way she is getting taught and is questioning changing schools 😮. We pay alot of money to send her to a good school and dont like wondering if its worth it and we should have just gone public. Kids like to unknowingly stress us mums. What is a seal program? Ive not heard of this before!? Re: JG King modified Heywood - Carpet 71May 27, 2016 2:01 pm Select entry accelerated learning. Basically they complete yrs 7-10 in 3 years by more or less skipping over yr 7 then they can do VCE over 3 years and do more subjects or complete high school in 5yrs (although that is rare). Most kids use it to complete a wider range of vce subjects or repeat some so they can boost their score. The advantage in the early years is that they aren't rehashing what they did in grade 5-6 and they are with a group of like-minded kids that hopefully push each other along. Our crossover has been formed up this morning! Its moving quickly! Re: JG King modified Heywood - Carpet 73May 27, 2016 3:10 pm Thanks surtees. On top of everything my husbands work is crazy busy all of a sudden so he's doing long hours and looks like working all weekend as well. It's certainly crazy around here at the moment. I'm trying to look at the bright side, first world problems and all that. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Carpet 77May 31, 2016 10:05 am Last official update we had said construction July, titles August. Given all the other releases allowed 2 months for the compliance and titles to happen I took that to mean start of July, end of August, which was verbally confirmed. So I we were expecting settlement mid-September. However the way they are pushing I think they will finish construction this week, making it a month early. Brett still thinks the title date probably won't change because the council is taking their sweet time issuing compliance for the stage before ours. I'm hoping since it is running early we will receive another official update soon. Re: JG King modified Heywood - Carpet 78May 31, 2016 10:10 am That would be great if you could get it a little early, really even on time would be good. Hopefully they give you an official update soon. Council seems to love taking there time hopefully its because they a doing the due diligence and not just dragging their heals. Our Build Thread - JG king Memphis Re: JG King modified Heywood - Carpet 80May 31, 2016 5:48 pm We were planning a trip to tulla laminex tomorrow to check out larger pieces of the stone but might postpone another week. Hubby rang them today to see if they had all of the ones on our list (we knew they don't have all of them yet) and all they could say was that they had 6 white or light grey stones but they don't know what they are because they're not labelled ! Unbelievable! Essastone haven't done themselves any favours with the way the change has been handled. It's crazy! We have little confidence that things will be any different next week but we want to get our selection and price sorted asap. I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 109679 1 10169 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 36595 |
