Let the fun begin Good luck finalising studio m! Some of the upgrades were reasonably priced yet a lot we found to be excessive! The appliances sound ridiculous. You're better off installing after handover. I'm sure it will cost you far less than Metricon's charging. Blog | http://ourhudson.wordpress.com Build thread | viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72159 Thanks Sheilzy Yes I know what you mean re some items being excessive. I think we are reliant on them for this - as firstly they will provide the gas connection in the butlers - it is not like the kitchen, so not standard; same with the rangehood - given it is ground floor - they need to have all the ducting in place. Blog | http://ourhudson.wordpress.com Build thread | viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72159 Yes I am sure - but I suspect they will send me a 'variation' bill of $1,500 so I think I think the cheaper option is to stick with the quotes. I think it would have been better to have gotten provisioning now that I think about it at least would have bought better quality stuff ourselves too late Metricon Glendale 38 - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&p=1298363#p1298363 Selections: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75696&start=60 Tiles - p25 Re: KDRB Metricon Glendale 38 (Sydney) 112Mar 27, 2015 8:46 pm The $1,500 variation fee is a bit rich. I think they should waive it if it was a one-off request. Why don't you talk to your Studio M consultant about getting an extra quote for the provision? My motto is what have you got to lose by asking the question? Have they said you will be charging variation fees if anything is changed from now? I just did a heap of post contract variations and didn't get charged but I did give them more work and $$$$ through the variations. Blog | http://ourhudson.wordpress.com Build thread | viewtopic.php?f=31&t=72159 We asked the studio M consultant to add a door to the espresso provision - and she reminded us that there is a variation fee, and put in red that she will charge us a fee for another change. Even though we didn't even discuss this at our appointment - they should really be covering all basis. Will discuss with mum and sister. Don't like our chances. But still - do think the price is excessive. May be this is what I need to discuss with the consultant. Studio M consultant has advised that the price includes installation etc.... but from $850 to $1,400!!! $850 would have already included the installation - so why such a huge jump for stuff which is marginally better. Funnily - the stove we chose has a $240 upgrade cost at Studio M - assuming $850 included the Designer homes standard Fisher and Paykel stove - we should really only have to pay an additional $240 for the stove. I just wonder how they come up with their numbers. The following range hood is marked as $290 at Studio M: http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/fisher-an ... d-hc90cgx1 Where as the one we wanted (same as Designer homes promo) - we have been quoted $470: http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/fisher-an ... -hc90dcxb1 There is not much of a difference in the RRP - so I am not sure why such a huge difference in the quote. Not sure if I can go to this level and look at RRPs - I don't believe M would listen. When you upgrade to a brand or finish that they dont volume in, the upgrade price seem exponential.
