The rest of the home flooring is going to be Bamboo Australiana by Verdura except the wet areas, which are going to be tiled in a creamy timber look tile. But the bedrooms have me come unstuck.... We are going Hogs Bristle full strength on the walls throughout the house (with various feature walls to suit the kids colour choices etc) and Natural White Gloss trims, but the bedroom carpet colour I can't decide on. I don't like dark carpets because I think they darken the rooms, I have lots of light in every room and I wanted to keep it light-ish. Do I go a cream or a light latte-ish colour or does it need a distinct colour contrast in the carpet so as not to just wash everything out? Any suggestions on a soft but durable carpet brand for bedroom/hallway as well? Also thinking of getting a carpet company out to go through the options with me, is this the better way? Check out the redbook Green selection, Mountain View, very soft carpet with more warranties than any other carpet! I'm at work at the moment,I have an A4 of Hog Bristle so after looking at all the colours you would want "DROVER" it fits with your scope above. Not too light but a lovely contrast with the Hog Bristle. If this carpet happens to be too expensive for you, use the colour as a guild to find one in the price range you need. Also thinking of getting a carpet company out to go through the options with me, is this the better way? Not sure, we offer a colour consulting service, where I go onsite to advise on carpets and colour. Not sure how many other stores do what we do. Re: I work at Carpet Court - Questions? 10Sep 08, 2014 8:08 pm Advice on carpets - 1) For me - The underlay! NEVER skimp on the underlay, just because its out of sight does not mean its not important. Your underlay is the guts to your carpet no guts, no carpet......simple. Always have a good quality, mid range is ok, the best if you have stairs. Run the good quality up the stairs only or down busy hallways or heavy traffic zones. 2) Ask yourself how you live, and be honest with yourself! I ask my customers this every day. Some of us are very particular with our surroundings, other really know how to live in their homes. (I think you all know what I mean by those two) 3) IF - You are particular in your home you could look for a nice quality pure wool carpet and enjoy the benefits of pure wool. http://www.cavbrem.com.au/buying-guide/ ... fibre.aspx 4) IF - You really know how to live in your home no holds bare, then I would be seeking a SDN - Solution Dyed Nylon http://www.blissflooring.com/bliss/home ... arpet.aspx 5) You could also look at the Green range from Feltex, this is selling hand over fist with us at Carpet Court at the moment. http://www.feltexcarpets.com/residentia ... ook_green/ 6) Ultimately - What makes a better carpet? Weight. The heavier the weight, the better the carpet. This meaning - "Fibre per Content" The heavier the weight the less room it has to fall over. This applies with wool or nylons. http://www.carpetcourt.com.au/carpet.ht ... oCIx3w_wcB So there you go, I hope this helps you all, any questions let me know Never let a spill leak through to the backing of the carpet, if it does, you have that stain for ever! Thanks Loving our new home, Upper Hunter NSW on 2.5 acres Re: I work at Carpet Court - Questions? 13Sep 09, 2014 4:01 pm Hi Michelle, we've been in our house 3 years now and the bedroom carpet looks like it needs to be re-stretched ... it's a fairly big area so that may be why it looks so bad ... do you think re-stretching will help or should we get someone in to have a look? For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: I work at Carpet Court - Questions? 14Sep 09, 2014 5:58 pm Hi Mclaren 3 years is a very short time for a carpet to be acting badly. I'd call in the people that you bought the carpet from and get them to look at it. Also get them to pull up your info and find out what underlay was used, that could be the issue. Our allowance is $4000, including installation but if we could go under budget that would be great as I'm over budget in our kitchen. What sort of carpet do you recommend, there are so many and I'm a bit confused. Any advice would be great, thanks Michelle. Hi Danette - if you go to Carpet Court store and ask for tuftmaster Urban Vibe, SND - Solution Died Nylon - You will be well under your $4000. They may give you a deal on the next grade up in the Tufmaster - Delaray Beach, same carpet but heavier weight. This is a very good carpet for the price.
