Browse Forums Building A New House Re: First Home Build - Sekisui Sydney - Luzia 321Jun 08, 2016 10:19 am Not much has happened this week after the storm, aside from dismantling of scaffolding, I now have a clear view of my beloved brick walls.
Over the weekend storm, luckily nothing has been damaged and only caused flooding on the lounge due to the incomplete roof at the front. The site inspection has been conducted and no major issues reported. More on bricks needs cleaning and rectifying an expansion joints and straightening some timbers. Looking forward of some real activity this week. Re: First Home Build - Sekisui Sydney - Luzia 322Jun 09, 2016 2:54 pm I just received a quote from the plumber about my precious bath mixer. Guess what, he wants to charge $1,500.00 for install!!! I get it that installation is a little bit different to the normal tap, but hey it wouldn't be 10 times more!
I think I have to change it back to the normal, $4k all up (supply + install) is just way too much! Re: First Home Build - Sekisui Sydney - Luzia 323Jun 09, 2016 4:18 pm Wow those charges are pretty extreme, which is such a shame. Any chance it is something that can be done after handover? Any pictures of those lovely clean bricks? Any chance it is something that can be done after handover? Any pictures of those lovely clean bricks? I know..I don't get it, he explained its too difficult plus this and that. Pft.. It can be done after handover but by that time flooring are tiled so would also be costly to do. I can't beat the dark in the afternoon, hence no photo yet. This weekend will be my chance. Yey! Re: First Home Build - Sekisui Sydney - Luzia 325Jun 09, 2016 9:05 pm Sounds like he has put it in the too hard basket and charging a fortune so you choose not to do it. Its unfortunate for you though. Can you get another plumber for the job. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81624 Re: First Home Build - Sekisui Sydney - Luzia 330Jun 17, 2016 8:59 pm yvonneh It may still be worth it. At this stage I think we'll just stick to the normal tap. The plumber is doing my headin' so the less dealings with him the better. Hopefully I can find a better one after handover. If anyone can recommend a good one within Sydney area I would gladly appreciate. Re: First Home Build - Sekisui Sydney - Luzia 331Jun 17, 2016 9:02 pm So since last week nothing much has happened except for Tuesday when brickies come back to fix some bricks and clean them as well. Very slow progress yet we received another 1 day EOT for last Monday's wet weather! Pft. I was so tempted to dispute but I know its SS who raised it and don't want to create any friction...as yet..so fingers crossed they make it up next week.
Re: First Home Build - Sekisui Sydney - Luzia 332Jun 17, 2016 9:30 pm We caught our neighbours builder connecting to our power, we told SS if he can lock the box to keep them away. He said he can't cause Sekisui's tradies need to connect when they do their works. So are we just letting them do it? Arggg... I have just looked into your build and your house is amazing and seems travelling along nicely, will be following. Re: First Home Build - Sekisui Sydney - Luzia 335Jun 23, 2016 10:39 am Can't beat the sun and have only got this recent photo. Not that there's a lot that has happened in the past weeks. Still waiting on the roof tiles / tiler to complete the lower roof area so they can commence internal works. Still hoping that the 12 weeks of PCI is still achievable tho we have just received 3 days EOT claim, so maybe not.
For now, I'm focusing on looking out for furnitures / blinds / plants to divert my attention out on the build. Did you get the same colour and material? Thanks. We got a light grey fabric and timber feet instead of steel. Re: First Home Build - Sekisui Sydney - Luzia 340Jun 23, 2016 5:02 pm Finally the balance roof tiles were delivered today, no more excuses of site being wet or tiler's can't commence, so internals can't start so on etc. Bring it on tilers and get the build back in the game, before I empty the piggy bank with my shopping therapy!!! Congratulations on your slab!
