Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 82Apr 10, 2014 12:27 am I found it mildly useful to visit council in person and be very friendly. give them a little hurry along. Our approval was apparantly sitting sealed in an envelope for 2 weeks and hadn't been put in the outgoing mail. Very stressful when you lose control just waiting for others to do their job. Good luck with your permits. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 83Apr 10, 2014 6:17 am Great tip joannek. Thanks using a phone so please excuse any typos and abruptness Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 84Apr 11, 2014 4:36 pm Spoke to our CSO to 'just get an update' and it sounds like that after the drawings come back (another 2 weeks...) it will go to orders and CDC (a further 2-3 weeks)... and it sounds like our May 30 date will be well timed for the approvals in play! Yay! I wasn't being too eager then Strangely enough when I asked about the landscape plan (we pulled it out of the contract as it was $1200 of cost) she seemed to indicate we didn't need it! So what were they going to charge us the $1200 for?!? Ah well at least it's one thing we don't need to worry about even though we will do a basic one for our own purposes. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 86Apr 15, 2014 10:21 pm When did/do you have your electrical meeting? Also I'm curious to find out more about your kitchen benchtop! Ill have to ask my sales guy what the R1, R2 etc are -with pictures!! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 87Apr 15, 2014 10:39 pm one of the things you will work out is that you don't have an electrical meeting! Basically go through the diagram with a fine tooth comb and work out what you want and mark it up. Our salesperson didn't try and upsell anything so it's just a matter of working out what you want/need and go from there. Kitchen benchtop for us is pretty much the same as this pic (I believe!) but with caesarstone tops Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ (pic is one from the display home which has laminate benchtops) Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 89Apr 16, 2014 10:30 am It's not a waterfall end as there is a bit of a overhang... we're only getting 20mm caesarstone (that's what comes with the package). And the side is laminate not caesarstone so can't really be 'waterfall' If I look at the elevations it probably shows what an R2 is... Anyway I must say I'm not too fussed. I think an R1 is more like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Yeah as for processes... yes it's pretty bad! But maybe only because we expect more having hung out on this forum. We've built before (but it was a custom build with a small builder) and it was just information as needed by them. We didn't do any of these processes until we needed to and then it was just like "ok you want to put lights, let's mark them on the floor in chalk where you want the lights fitted and we'll put them above the spot". Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 90Apr 16, 2014 10:37 am Ah yes I see the slight overhang and sorry misinterpreted you with the cs not following down the side. Well at least your cs has some support at each end where it's overhanging. It's going to look great! I might need to do a bit of research and see what a safe overhang without side support is for 20mm thick. And man that's a nice kitchen! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 91Apr 16, 2014 10:40 am If you do find out about the R1, R2 etc can you share? more for curiosity as I'm not changing anything now So confusing! Yeah that's a LOVELY kitchen. Love the bifold windows and the door profile etc. *sigh* Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 92Apr 16, 2014 10:43 am Ha!
Looking at the elevations... maybe I'm getting an R1!?! The laminated end I was looking at is the one against the wall not the island. Hmmm maybe need to email my CSO and Salesperson. Probably good anyway as I need to ask them about the dishwasher... which they never finalised with me. EDIT: my reading of the elevations is totally wrong so I didn't ask about the laminated ends, instead asked about R1 and R2 which you will see in the later posts now Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 93Apr 16, 2014 11:55 am My sales consultant is lovely. She's sent through some pics of R1 with promises of R2s shortly. So R1 Kitchen Servery pics here: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Interestingly enough that first picture (Galleria 210) is their basic kitchen we were walked through with our colour consultant. Hmmm no overhead cupboards! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 96Apr 16, 2014 12:26 pm She didn't say at all about if there are other options or about the strength of the Caesarstone. I would think the Caesarstone is strong enough? Having said that the Colour consultant when we met with her was an advocate of the overmount sink rather than undermount (we went undermount) for fear of chipping the Caesarstone when washing up (pots and pans). I'm just not a fan of lines, grout or gaps that I can see so went with undermount since I was given the option! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 97Apr 16, 2014 12:35 pm You know i really like the look of the R1 with the PB wall. However my husband wants the breakfast bar depth deeper and prefers the laminate back so the dirt doesn't show as much (from people knocking it when sitting at the bar) Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 98Apr 16, 2014 12:40 pm That's great if you like the R1 with plasterboard. As that is exactly what is available in the standard The laminate thing is exactly why my husband likes it too. I had visions of getting timber panels (old timber) and putting it up or something else down the track or at least painting that section in something so it's easy to clean. But in the end the laminated back panel will look great and keep things looking cleaner. I remember asking if we could deepen the wall bench to 90cm (so I could hide some stuff in shallow cupboards (i have a heap of appliances which I will be trying to offload!) but the cost of the caesarstone to upgrade was quite horrendous so I stopped that line of thought! Re: KDR with Sekisui House: Demolition date 100Apr 16, 2014 1:47 pm Data -- we'll do that ourselves but Cat6e is what I'd recommend Moved the phone points (not that it's likely we'll use it but we'll probably buddy up the data points to the same spot We put in a couple of speaker points Moved antenna points (btw you don't get an antenna) Moved light switches to logical places Added a couple of outdoor power points Moved (and debated a couple of lights... they wanted to charge us extra for a move but it was a mistake) Added an exhaust fan (laundry) We put in a junction thing for pendant lighting above the island/servery We'll do most of the lights ourselves after handover including under bench lighting in the kitchen! Oh and we'll do under eave lights again after handover. The default lights according to the salesperson is oyster lights. The drawings seem to indicate just battens. Having said all of that my preference is to get all the fittings done by the builder. But it's my hubby's area of expertise and he wants to organise it all... but even he admits he would have probably asked for more powerpoints etc as it is easier if they do it. But with a bearers and joist construction it's not that hard to do. We've run HDMI cables before through walls etc. It's a PITA but can be done... anywhere with wall insulation does make it a bit more difficult (fiberglass splinters anyone?) We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37743 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 19482 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13805 |
