Browse Forums Building A New House Re: WA - Baldivis / Ventura - Rental Rant 281Feb 13, 2013 3:51 pm I hear you. Maybe it is just a Baldivis thing but back in Sydney everything was on Saturday morning from about 10-1 with the occasional after hours midweek. Everything we wanted to look at was between 1-4 on a weekday. Seriously who is available then. Most of the property managers are rubbish as well not returning calls or providing any information about when a viewing will be. We got lucky with ours and the managers seemed to be one of the few who have some sort of sense. Our build thread with Redink 11/1 - Prestart 5/4 - Slab 29/4 - Brickwork 27/5 - Roof Cover 20/6 - Lock Up 20/8 - PCI 10/9 - Handover Re: WA - Baldivis / Ventura - Rental Rant 282Feb 13, 2013 6:48 pm Tell me if I am over reacting. I downloaded a legal application from the REIWA and filled it out along with the privacy consent, typed a letter about ourselves added our payslips to show we are above average earners, added our rental statements from our two investment properties in Tasmania, went down to the Office (as the girl at the house viewing isn't allowed to take the application) in 42 degrees and the receptionist would not take my application as it is on the "wrong form"? i.e. not their form. I am shaking with frustration, plus I have a property inspection tomorrow and it is too hot to clean and an inspection tonight for a buyer. grrr. I hate being treated like a live sheep on a truck. Honestly they deserve the bogan trash that were there looking. Re: WA - Baldivis / Ventura - Rental Rant 283Feb 13, 2013 7:16 pm Oh I feel your pain donna61!! Gone are the days when you used to be able to get the key from the real estate to go through the property yourself or organize to view it with the previous tenants....it's so complicated now!! We hadn't rented in 8 years so i was amazed how much had changed....maybe naive, but couldnt believe how hard it was...even filling out the application forms was so time consuming, then photocopying things!!We had such trouble finding a place and like you and Munchy said trying to attend these viewings in the middle of the day with a gazillion people turning up with you!! And what's with the Option Fee some real estates demand. I had no idea about that at all!!
Never building again unless I can stay in my own house. Good luck!! Re: Baldivis Rivergums 285Mar 15, 2013 8:24 pm Building permit arrived yesterday, so we are in scheduling now. Still House Hunting - got approved and then the owner's gave it to someone else! Waiting on two other applications. So frustrating. Re: Baldivis Rivergums 286Mar 15, 2013 8:28 pm *fingers crossed* Yay for scheduling! Not long now ours only took 3 weeks and about 4 variations! Looking at a slab the end of the month. Have to say I've been more impressed by the site guy I've met twice now then the office staff! Re: Baldivis Rivergums 287Mar 15, 2013 8:32 pm That's good things are moving along for you - I don't think scheduling will take long, they were ordering stuff over the last few weeks Re: Baldivis Rivergums 288Mar 15, 2013 8:52 pm Donna can you increase the area of where you're wanting to rent? Have you tried private rentals? We sold our home and then got told by the agent 'good luck trying to find a rental with 3 pet'. Yep thanks for that. I totally panicked and we are now renting a tiny place with private landlords. I guess to them we looked like royalty compared to what they ordinarily would have attracted. The downside is that's its so small and downright horrid, but I still reckon if I hadn't taken it we would have been in a whole lot of trouble. Geez how many knock backs can you take? Lets hope you'll have something good happening soon. Re: Baldivis Rivergums 289Mar 15, 2013 11:29 pm I have an area from Port Kennedy to Rockingham Beach, Safety Bay to Baldivis that I am happy to rent in. I am not too worried as I have seen 'the competition' lol! I have been surprised though how many homes keep getting re-listed for inspections, I asked at one what is going on and she was saying a lot come to view but never apply. She had one that had 40 groups inspect but got 2 applications. I have only put in applications for 4 - one that I got then the owner's gave to a friend, one I don't know why and two still to hear about. Looking at a private one tomorrow. It is in a higher price bracket so may have a reasonable chance. Re: Baldivis Rivergums - Construction 290Mar 23, 2013 6:40 pm Hi all Well at last we have movement! Earthworks to begin from Monday with slab after Easter! Also we have picked up a House Sit until the end of the year (negotiable) this starts beginning of May, care taking a home for retirees going north for the winter. What a relief, no more rent inspections, no bond sitting in a Govt bank a/c and we can save big dollars. We are organising a container to store our goods and spending Easter getting most of it packed. Don't feel so over-whelmed with the packing now that we have time, and we only have to carry it to the driveway! We will have the container delivered to the new build once we are ready for furniture. As they say you never know what's around the corner - I guess the Universe was steering me in this direction making it so hard to get a rental organised. phew!! Re: Baldivis Rivergums 293Mar 23, 2013 7:05 pm Wonderful to hear!!! Sounds perfect! Jen Building with HomeGroupWA (started as Scott Park Homes ) - Grand Wisteria Check out my Build Thread!! Time line on P1. Re: Baldivis Rivergums - Earthworks 295Apr 03, 2013 3:48 pm We have actually had something happen at the block. Design is all strung out Now all I need is to get someone to remove the builder's rubbish on my footpath. Developer say's ring Council, Council said ring neighbouring Builder, Builder said it's up to the owner! Re: Baldivis Rivergums - Earthworks 296Apr 03, 2013 4:33 pm Yay that means pipe work/footings soon and then slab!! Re: Baldivis Rivergums - Earthworks 297Apr 03, 2013 6:09 pm Yay!!! It's so exciting to see it all marked out!!! Not long now before picture of slab ) Re: Baldivis Rivergums - Earthworks 298Apr 03, 2013 7:52 pm Hope So! We got emailed our air-conditioner plan today as well. Things are happening Re: Baldivis Rivergums - Earthworks 299Apr 03, 2013 9:17 pm I just skim read your rental saga! We hunted and hunted for a rental for over 3 months that I just had to apply for anything! Purely because work kept giving me the angry eye that I had to go to an inspection... Good to here you managed to get a house sit!! What a great score! Re: Baldivis Rivergums - Earthworks 300Apr 03, 2013 9:20 pm Yeah rental searching is soul destroying!!
