Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 161Aug 22, 2015 3:30 pm Oh my goodness that brick is MASSIVELY different. I have no idea what to suggest there. Send them the photos and complain is all I can suggest :/ Your house looks just as lovely as ours Our build: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=70584 Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 162Aug 22, 2015 3:34 pm I'm upset about it. The house won't look anything like i imagined. I'm sure they will just say its a natural variation Both houses are looking stunning Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 163Aug 22, 2015 4:08 pm You have to at least try re the bricks. That variation is too huge! Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 164Aug 22, 2015 4:33 pm Yeah it really looks like a different brick. In saying that I really like the colour they delivered. Looks closer to our colour brick Our build: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=70584 Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 165Aug 22, 2015 9:05 pm I cannot see any variation at all - its totally different bricks! You may need to check if they have sent the rights bricks, because there's no trace of the original by the looks of it. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79163 Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 166Aug 23, 2015 6:48 pm We will be following up with our SS and Austral tomorrow. I was speaking to a friend who is looking at selections for their home and they also liked the brick 'Engage' but Austral mentioned they'd changed the dye and now it looks nothing like their sample wall. I just wanted a brown/tan brick. I can't even describe the colour delivered...flat dark, grey not so brown? lol At least it is raining and we will have some time to follow it up Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 167Aug 23, 2015 8:40 pm Hey Kate. Saw your house yesterday on my drive through Saddlers. Been following your thread for a while. Weather has been so nice last few weeks. We are building at McKeachies with MacJones. Slab prep has started and would have been poured we think this week but doesn't look like it will. of all the weeks to rain it started this week after so much sunshine! Hope they sort your bricks out. We are having Austral Urban One Pepper. Love how the colour looks through darks and lights in the brick. Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 168Aug 24, 2015 7:40 pm wadedewilde Hey Kate. We have had gorgeous weather since we started! Such a shame about this week. I hope they are able to do it sometime this week though! Sorry to say but i was actually a little pleased by the rain so we can get this brick issue sorted So the bricks...we went to Austral today and they advised that they changed the plant where they make the bricks a few months back and the clay they use is different hence the new colour (not sure how they can get away with calling it the same name). Apparently all builders were advised but obviously the information was not passed on. We're now looking at the possibility of choosing a new brick but we have a list of houses with the new Engage brick to look at also. Here's the difference in brick at the display centre: (New brick on top) And our Engage compared to another brick we are now looking at Alabaster with our ironstone roof selection and surfmist garage/windows: (Engage on bottom) Fingers crossed we can work something out with minimal cost and time delays! Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 169Aug 24, 2015 8:02 pm Oh my goodness those bricks are completely different colours, I can't believe they've kept the same name. I wonder how many other colours/bricks are different now too. Gee I'm going to go inspect our bricks a bit closer tomorrow now. They're from PGH but still. That next one looks like a close match. Our build: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=70584 Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 170Aug 24, 2015 8:52 pm Ohh wow! That's a massive difference. We are building with the Austral engage bricks too and Luckily, what we got was pretty similar to the sample we had. Our builder did say that there was a delay in bricks due to the popularity of the austral engage and that austral have had to open extra plants to make those bricks. That doesn't explain the massive variation with your brick colour though. I really hope you are able to work something out with minimal delays. Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 171Aug 26, 2015 8:46 am Yesterday we had a little drive around to houses with the Alabaster brick. Lucky enough to find one of the houses had similar roof/garage colours. So our house would look a little like this: A little lighter than I would've liked but in the short time we are trying to fix this I would be much happier with this then the grey/brown brick. Getting in touch with the builder and Austral today. Will keep you all updated! Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 172Aug 26, 2015 8:22 pm I really like that combination! Good brick compromise I think Our build: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=70584 Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 173Aug 26, 2015 9:16 pm I would definitely like those bricks over the bricks that got delivered which they called as the 'new Austral Engage'. Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79163 Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 174Aug 26, 2015 10:14 pm Email sent to our on-site customer service officer tonight...can't wait to see the reply. Had a hectic afternoon. My partner was in a car accident and his car might be a write-off Just what we need! He isn't at fault but only insured for market value. We really need Sekisui to waive any upgrade amount and variation for the brick change. So far a very stressful week! Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 175Aug 26, 2015 10:46 pm Oh no!!!!! How scary!!!! Is he okay?? Surely Sekisui are at fault for not passing the information onto you that the colour batch had changed!? I'd certainly not accept a variation fee. Not sure about an upgrade amount if they're not in the standard range though. Certainly try that's for sure. So sorry to hear about your week I think you've done really well (wit picking a new brick so soon) considering. Our build: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=70584 Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 176Aug 26, 2015 10:48 pm I'll try take your mind of stressful things- have you thought about other things like window coverings and light fittings ect. What are you thinking for those? And what are you thinking for roofing your back deck/concrete? Will the floor be timber or concrete? Which way is North again? Our build: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=70584 Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 177Aug 31, 2015 7:11 am Hope you partner is OK. Sounds very stressful. Hopefully market value will get you something you like. Definitely distract yourself with the fun stuff like decorating! Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 178Sep 02, 2015 6:59 pm Been such a busy week!! Firstly my partner is fine. Car was a write-off. Fortunately he found another he liked on the weekend. Bit above the price we were looking for but it is nice... The brick saga has also ended! We are getting the Austral Metropolis Alabaster brick free of charge We visited the block today and the original bricks had been removed. The new bricks should be delivered by the end of the week. Also to our surprise the guttering and fascia were done and the rest of the roof is there ready to be put up too (it's the colour we imagined ) So not too much of a set back. Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 179Sep 03, 2015 3:50 pm Really great news he's okay. Also great you found a replacement car reasonably quickly Excellent about the free of charge swap over of bricks. Hopefully they arrive really soon. Did you get a picture of the gutters and fascia? I hope your roof went on today!! We might end up bricking at the same time Re: Our first home - Sekisui Clareville - Austral Engage?? 180Sep 03, 2015 3:52 pm So I've been looking at lights online. Lights to replace the external wall bunkers and lights for the master bedside pendants. I tell you what, holy bat balls lights are expensive. Soak wells and electrical run in happening this week! Summit has told me they will relocate the laundry plumbing after the walls are completed. I'm actually pretty happy… 13 36880 Cant give recommendations in general with that builder, but during the colour selection, this is honestly personal preference. Depends on the style you want.
