Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 29, 2019 4:45 pm We are building a duplex with Champion Homes in Sydney. Our council has stipulated a storm water drain be built and the builder has quoted us $80K! We are stunned and not sure how to sense check whether that have over-engineered the solution. Any ideas? We are first time builders but this feels excessive. Storm water can really break a budget (and dreams). Especially for first timers who don't really consider it until you cop a quote like this. Ouch. Good luck and I hope it has been over engineered for your sake. But it does seem odd draining to the right rather than downstream, unless easement have been refused from neighbours. However since you are building a duplex, and if you are building in metro areas, OSD will highly likely be required. Without knowing what the builder has allowed for, 80k does seem to be towards the higher end for this type of stormwater system.
