My builder has tiled my bathroom wrong and has since ripped out the existing tiles. Will they need to redo the waterproofing before tiling again?
Depends on how careful they were, but I'd say so. We had to pull out three 600 x 300 wall tiles during our build and certainly needed to redo the waterproofing under those.

Waterproofing both the walls and floors is a must in bathrooms nowadays, especially with power showers, which throw out a lot of water at high pressure. However, there's another consideration for floors -- not only do the tiles need to be waterproof, they must also be protected against movement. Otherwise they could crack or become debonded from the substrate.

I'm a great fan of pre-formed shower-bases in a timber-floor house renovation. Worth a thought in the overall planning of a bathroom renovation.
