Browse Forums Building A New House Re: How long did your build take, and what time did they quo 11Jan 14, 2018 6:25 pm aloenyx Quoted 6 months (then 5), took 10 months (+ 8 months to start build once land settled). Oh my god that is terrible. I am so sorry. See where I am we all Settled on the land at the same time. End of may last year. Most people on my street moved in before Christmas. Most built quiet simple box houses with Clarendon or Ausbuild. They were quick. Re: How long did your build take, and what time did they quo 12Jan 14, 2018 6:54 pm Our contract was 31 weeks. Come the end of contract Coral had not even reached painting stage. It took 56 weeks before we got handover. What a joke!!!! Coral build- Modified Bronte 42 - We're in!!! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82234&p=1513775&hilit=coral+modified+bronte#p1513775 Re: How long did your build take, and what time did they quo 14Jan 14, 2018 7:27 pm Stacca Skcel My GJ says 22 weeks in the contract. We are upto week 9 tomorrow and probably about 8 weeks to completion. You are doing well! What house are you building? The widebay, what have you decided on? Re: How long did your build take, and what time did they quo 15Jan 14, 2018 7:33 pm The widebay is lovely! we are building the Stillwater 264, you can check it out on our blog http://buildinginoz.com Re: How long did your build take, and what time did they quo 16Jan 14, 2018 7:46 pm Thanks. The sad thing is, I'm nowhere near the worst experience that's been had on H1. My total build time was like 3 years and 1 month... which is a nightmare when my original planned build time was 18months. Re: How long did your build take, and what time did they quo 17Jan 14, 2018 7:58 pm I’m in Perth and was told 6 months from slab down and throw in Xmas so was expecting to get in around the end of January. My build took 20 weeks so was in before Xmas @Madora Dreamer Re: How long did your build take, and what time did they quo 19Jan 14, 2018 9:57 pm Really shocked by all of these time frames. Seems so unfair on the buyer. The industry needs a shake up. Builders should be more accountable. Re: How long did your build take, and what time did they quo 20Jan 15, 2018 1:07 pm We were verbally told that it would take around 6 months and the sales guy even said that if it goes over 8 months they start to lose money. Contract stated that they had to finish by end of November. We figured worst case scenario we move in, in December. We started our build at the end of Jan 2016. Things progressed fairly well until around July 2016, when we were close to fixing stage. Our SS quit and we then had three different ones. Nothing happened for months apart from a few things here and there. No one would respond to emails etc. Quite a stressful time! Surprise surprise the builder went into liquidation October 2016. Insurance claim lodged and new builder found. Insurance approved Christmas 2016. New builder started end of Jan 2017 (he was also fixing defects picked up on during incomplete inspection). We moved in in Easter 2017. So, all up around 16 months. Now we are in, it doesn't actually seem like a big deal, but it did at the time!! Can't say I would build again. Not that there's much land near us now anyway. My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20434 9 24816 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27739 |
