We have decided this is the design we are going to build. Just looking for suggestions on how to best use the space.
We have 2 children (ages 7 and 2.)
Initially we thought we would use the theatre as the "den" - piano, bookcase, maybe a tv. The idea being that this being at the front of the house would stay relatively "tidy"!
Retreat would be for kids stuff (currently an abundance of toys) - not too far from the kitchen, so easy to supervise.
Now I'm wondering if we should reverse it because the plan is so open. So piano/office in the retreat and kids zone in the theatre?
Or do we just move in and see what evolves?
Eventually would like to set up a family "study" zone for when the girls are older - thought the retreat might be perfect for this?

I'd stick with your first idea. Kids are usually more content to play in closer proximity to the action, ie kitchen, and it will be easier to keep the more separate theatre a bit quieter to work in.

I think you should go with family "study" zone that can also be a place to chill. Add relaxing lights, some plants and make sure the reading area is super comfy. You can consider these modular sofas https://www.kingliving.com.au/furniture ... -recliners
A friend of mine has one, she is very satisfied.

I'm in agreement with everyone else. For kids this layout is perfect. It's great how the dining room and living room are right near the kitchen. The theatre seems to be in a good location too for your kids to play.
