Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 14, 2017 10:38 pm Hello All, Could someone share their experience or provide information in case we have to go overseas for 2-3 weeks where house is like almost 60% ready. Does it impact on the rest of the 40% of the house or we can really trust them. Please advise.Happy to avoid travelling in this case. Thank you Re: Travelling Overseas during the Construction 2Sep 17, 2017 8:08 am New build or Renovation? There is nothing stopping you really, it's just personal choice. Comes down to how much you trust the builder. If there are milestones you needed to sign off on during that time you could always engage a Building inspector to check out the works to insure it's completed. If it's past lockup, and waterproofing and insulation is done..... everything else is likely still visible at pre completion inspection as not covered up. If you'll be away at key times you could have a private inspector go through who'll communicate with you and builder, or your own appointed building surveyor. Re: Travelling Overseas during the Construction 5Sep 21, 2017 10:45 pm Thanks all for your suggestions. It really helps. PAt this stage we are not sure what stage the construction will be at the time of our travel. Since the land hasn't titled its hard to tell. We will wait a couple of weeks to take the decision though. Re: Travelling Overseas during the Construction 6Sep 22, 2017 11:21 am There is too much emphasis on trust. Trust is a blindfold on your face and you may not like what you see when you open your eyes. Yes trust by all means but with one eye open. There are plenty of builders around my suburb. I'll make sure to do some door-to-door knocking, or note their building details on the temp fence. 4 4752 1 62024 |
