I am new to this forum so hopefully this is the right place to post!
The previous owners of my house thought it would be a good idea to concrete over the entire garden, and now I am looking to turn it back to lawn! I am happy to get my hands dirty and crack through it but problem is I am not sure where to start. so I need this forums help!
Here is a picture of my garden:
My plans are to most level it, of which the majority will be lawned with exception to the right side (next to the tree) which will be a seating area / firepit. What is not clear in the photo is I am on a sloped block, and there also a fair amount of sandstone so I am intending to keep the lawned area raised with steps, looking similar to this.
Now I need your advice please everything welcome from anyone with similar experiences!
My main question is should I hire a skip bin and remove all the concrete entirely, then start from scratch or is it worthwhile breaking up the concrete and using it as hardcore underneath the new lawn to help level the garden?
Other points to note are:
1) There used to be a old outdoor toilet in the garden, so I need to be careful around a sewer line and cap it off.
2) There is quite a lot of sandstone in the garden, some huge boulders!
3) it is a sloped block, in two directions. It raises from right to left and also has 8 degree fall from the back to the front.

Personally I'd get rid of everything and start from a blank clean canvas. Depending on the size, some of the sandstone could be integrated as features. When ordering a skip make sure you say it's for concrete and bricks (more expensive than general waste).

Thanks Berek, yes that was my thoughts as well. It was actually my builder that threw me off because he suggested using it as hardcore to level garden but then that could also be bad builder mentality of burying the rubble because its easier. I was therefore hoping someone on here had a similar experience but it seems not.
thanks for tip on bin! will make sure I do if I remove it all.

Hi there! I don't have much idea about landscaping. But I think you may search online or hire a good professional for doing landscaping. Landscaping professionals help homeowners in doing the best landscaping design. Also a professional may also suggest you different ideas for landscaping. One may also search on website for different landscaping ideas or landscaping professional services on the web.

I vote get rid of all the concrete. We decided to bury some in our yard and I massively regret it. "Oh we'll never put a plant here" said me last year. Now I want to put plants there so am digging it all back out just much nicer knowing you don't have rubbish and crap the buried in your yard
