This can happen when the build is rushed, or if the house has been sealed up and not allowed enough time to dry out, especially in the winter months. Well hopefully my building inspector will check that out for me as I would not have a clue! Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say you've got plasterboard being installed on the walls instead of plaster? Drying time is much quicker in this scenario, so highly doubt you'll have any issues just hopefully the joins have been flushed correctly! You are right, I didn't read it properly, I'm having plasterboard @Madora Dreamer Re: HGWA in Calleya Estate 159Sep 29, 2017 10:20 pm Brian.bozo BuildinginC We are building with WA Housing Centre (BGC). Mostly happy with them. Roof framework should be going up this week. We have a rough completion date of end of December. Just had to renew our rental lease to the end of the year. Hoping we are in before Christmas. Our neighbour's are already at lock up. We had settlement on the same day, so they are building their house very quickly. Don't expect to get in any time this year.....BGC are glacially slow....slow, slow, slow, slow. Cost $$$$$$$ in extra rent. Although HGWA are glacially slow with paperwork, they are certainly building the house quite quickly. Sorry you are having problems with your build. How frustrating that it is taking so long. How frustrating that it is taking so long. Thanks......yes, very (expletive) frustrating. Another week has gone by; It seems building companies ignore the facts that every day that passes, it's costing the owner $$$$$$. They (and the contractors) have a simple mindset that it's just a job that they go to each day, oblivious to everything else. Our building supervisor asked me and my wife to take a day off work so he could show us through the construction. Couldn't meet us on our terms....no, no, no. It was outside HIS working hours......later found out he had something else to do. In fact, we doubt that he's had much building experience at all. He doesn't seem to know what the tradies are talking about when we're in discussions. I've helped a mate build his home. Took us 12 months...........weekends and school holidays only!! Even the Crystal Palace in the UK was built in 8 months. |
