Browse Forums Building A New House Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - FRAMING 323Dec 06, 2017 11:12 am Ezza78 Complaint is a bit harsh. I’m in a rental next door to building site and can’t park in my driveway today, hardly going to complain about it. We do get quite a few people walking past including elderly walking their dogs so I'm assuming it could be someone like that who has complained. Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - FRAMING 324Dec 07, 2017 8:50 am Yesterday it appears that Electrical was roughed in and the solar panel for the hot water service was installed on the roof. Some touches were also added to the gable. Today it looks like plumbing is being roughed in. On the Simonds portal the roof has been marked off as done but it's not complete yet. Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - FRAMING 325Dec 08, 2017 5:39 am Bri - looks like things are moving along nicely. We had to wait awhile for the engineering report for our slab issues as well. Make sure that you get a copy. It's such a shame that tradies sometimes can't read signs, and this causes inconvenience for the neighbourhood. Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - FRAMING 326Dec 08, 2017 9:19 am Drove past last night and noticed they'd done a small section of the roof ridge capping but it was (not sure the technical term) lapped? We'd requested A Line. So messaged SS last night. Drove past this morning. Those tiles are now in a broken heap on the ground and the ridge capping looks correct now. Looks like the roof is nearly done. Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - FRAMING 327Dec 08, 2017 10:55 am Out and about so I popped past (can't help myself, lol) Roofing guys are gone. Site is quite. Looks like the roof tiling is done apart from the tiles where the guard rail is fastened. Gas has also been roughed in. Hubby is happy, he can see that they have put in gas point to the alfresco he asked for. Still a little concerned about the amount of water pooled in the back left corner of the block. Room sizes look good. We can still see where framing defects need to be rectified but some already have been One thing we noticed we want changed is we opted for 2 power points in the garage / workspace and they have been put down at floor level. Hoping we can move them to bench height instead before plaster goes up. Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - ROOFING & ROUGH IN 329Dec 11, 2017 6:12 pm Someone was on site yesterday (Sunday). They moved bricks from the pallets in to smaller piles in different places. Then today, nothing. Haven’t been wrapped yet. And defects not all sorted. Thankfully the dry weather seems to be drying out the swamp in the back corner. Walk through with SS this Wednesday. Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - ROOFING & ROUGH IN 330Dec 11, 2017 7:03 pm Oh - don't you want a swamp - I'm thinking of keeping mine and making it a water feature or even joining all of the swamps and building a moat around the house. Get your list together of all the defects for Wednesday and have him show they have been fixed - don't forget the powerpoint to be moved Bricks in smaller piles will be blending the bricks from each batch so that they are well, better blended and there are no patches of different variations in large chunks. Does that make sense. Just thinking - buy a concrete croc for the back corner hahahahaha Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - ROOFING & ROUGH IN 331Dec 11, 2017 7:12 pm Rachael13 Oh - don't you want a swamp - I'm thinking of keeping mine and making it a water feature or even joining all of the swamps and building a moat around the house. Seems to mainly be the back corner with standing water but the 2 sides are quite soft. Yes. A list is a must. I tend to forget things otherwise. Ahhhh that makes sense about the bricks. They’ve also positioned them in set spots at the front and on the front of each side. None at the back yet. Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - ROOFING & ROUGH IN 332Dec 12, 2017 5:21 pm Quiet so far this week. We've seen the occasional worker on site but no idea what they are doing. Today hubby saw 2 Simonds vehicles there. Hopefully find out what happening tomorrow when we do a walk through with the SS. A positive, the swamp appears to be drying out well. Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - ROOFING & ROUGH IN 333Dec 12, 2017 6:33 pm Maybe they are fixing defects before continuing on. But yeah you'll find out tomorrow. Still swampy, my lap pool is still in existence and I fear that it will never dry out. Might have to starting thing about what tiles to put around it or maybe decking.... lol Re: KDR - SE Melb - Simonds Flinders - ROOFING & ROUGH IN 334Dec 13, 2017 4:32 pm We had our walk through with the SS this morning. The frame overhang should be sorted in the next day or 2. Other defect should be done in the next day or 2 as well. The guy was there working today but with this heat I'm assuming he knocked off early. Apparently there's been a hold up due to thefts . Timber keeps going missing. Some people are just scum. Brickie was there today too. Apparently it's just him and his laborer doing the brick work. He'll do it in stages starting around the side away from the defect and SS said the brickie planned to work through Christmas. Again I'm assuming he knocked off early with this heat as well. SS was able to answer my questions and ease my mind about a few things. He's also going to get the power points in the garage moved up, woohoo. No photo's today. After a busy day I couldn't be bothered stopping out getting out of the airconditioned car this afternoon. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13443 |
