Popped into Beaumont Tiles and placed an order on these for our porch and alfresco area. More in line with the size of subway tiles. Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Plaster Done! 612Feb 06, 2018 6:55 am How’s eveyone’s build’s going? Things have been slow at our end, as they still haven’t finished patching plaster. I did make a few little last minute changes. Changed our splash back tile to the smaller subway version - much more Hamptons-esque I think. And had a change of heart with our laminate bench tops in the laundry and upstairs bathroom. I had really liked the idea of timber look tops with the white cabinets but decided it was a bit too Scandi in the end and wanted something similar to the stone benchtops in the kitchen. And we’ll go with Dulux Winter Fog for the powder and ensuite, a darker warmish grey which will hopefully offset nicely our half height white tiled walls. Colours just look so different when painted on an actual large square of plaster and in different lights. Ones I thought I would really like either ended up being too creamy or too cool. If you’re as anal as me about getting colours right, testing samples is a must!! But I’m stumped with what to choose for the ceiling & cornices, and for the doors, architraves, skirtings and trims. I’ve been reading blogs saying to avoid just going with builders white as it may not work with the wall colour, and also to avoid oil based gloss on doors etc which can yellow over time. Anyone got any advice or suggestions on this? There are so many shades of white out there it’s nuts trying to choose! Would have loved to do timber paneling but at an extra $3-5K had to draw the line there So we’ve come up with a combo of cement sheeting for the eaves and plaster in the centre, but raised/inset kind of like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hope it turns out okay Re: Our Custom Hamptons Inspired Home - Plaster Done! 615Feb 07, 2018 9:54 am Dani_J Spoke to SS yesterday and carpenter will be back out soon to finish a few odds and ends and install internal doors etc and painting will start next week Meanwhile had to make a quick call on our alfresco ceiling which is quite open and builder was concerned it would get damaged quite quickly if we just went plaster all round.
