Gravy
Went and had a meeting with Brad our supervisor on site this morning to chat about the inspection report and everything went great. He spent a good 80mins with us, went through all the concerns on the report one by one and we left very happy and confident that all issues were well addressed and were more than happy to pay our invoice and continue on. He even found a couple issues himself that Darbecca didn't spot and so far we are very happy with his transparency and communication. We never felt rushed or like we were inconveniencing him, and he was very upfront and happy to explain all the details to us, so we left on a very positive note and confident that he will continue to do a good job for us
The brickies were on site and had just started on the garage side of the house when we arrived, by the time we finished the inspection they were already knee high, there was a good team of 5 working hard in the cold drizzle and they seemed to be doing a good job keeping the joins even and bricks clean. Brad says he generally only uses his own trades and these boys have been working for him for 9 years so he know's they do a good job, and they've been booked for this week so should have the ground level complete by then. We went and had a little brunch, went to pick them up a bunch of chips, chocolate, cookies, drinks and a slab, and when we dropped it off to say thanks for the hard work - they were already up to head height on the bricks I imagine by day's end today most of the garage side would be complete. Pretty cool!
We also found out during our chat that even tho our site is classed as M, Burbank only use P classed slabs no matter what, so the slab is over engineered (which apparently drives the concreters mad) and we can be confident that the slab won't heave and that it is very very structurally sound. Apparently they do this because they don't want any chance of things going wrong down the track and therefore like to overdo things, just in case. I was surprised and very happy to know
So next week after bricks on ground level is complete the scaffold will go up, then gutters and facia, and after that the roof goes on. After roof is installed the 2nd level will be wrapped and then bricked. He reckons he will be finished by September, and that he really can't imagine it going any longer than that, so there is a chance we could be in by as early as October this year I was crossing my fingers for December this year so if he's right then October would be an absolute dream! I hope his right but won't be holding my breath, at least now I feel confident we will be in before Xmas
Took a few pic's it was raining and freezing so the pictures aren't the best, but you get the general gist of it all was hard getting a good photo of the bricks that have gone up cos of the pile of sand/bricks and other stuff at the front, but hopefully i'll get a good picture this weekend
